Really badly chipped teeth..urgent?

my brother hit the bottom of my jaw hard and i chipped 4 teeth and 1 of them it broken about half way down and a bit more than half in width..it looks really ugly and school is almost starting..it really hurts..can the dentist fix it and how much will it cost?

Really badly chipped teeth..urgent?
my son hit the bottom of the pool yesterday and chipped his teeth too- the dentist os going to fix them tomarrow- cost - i don't know-sorry

They can be fixed
Reply:yes the dentist can fix them but im not sure how much it will cost. make a appointment as soon as possible!
Reply:Sure as dentist can fix them. Cost; Sorry, don't know.
Reply:Why don't you actually go to the dentist or doctor instead of asking this question online...queer.
Reply:Yes a dentist can fix them They can either be bonded if there are not to bad or they will have to be capped. Both are quite expensive though. As it is cosmetic dentistry.
Reply:He's going to have to be seen right away.

good luck
Reply:Yes, these can be capped or other wise fixed. God, that must hurt. Get to the dentist fast. If you don't have insurance call social services for a free dentist. Good luck and get care before you develop a infection.
Reply:Unfortunately, replacing with caps is quite expensive. The good news is they look great!
Reply:First, CALL YOUR DENTIST! You could have an exposed nerve on the tooth that broke the worst. That would mean a root canal-don't panic-they are not as bad as people think! And the other teeth probably just need to be fixed with some tooth colored plastic, good as new. You will need some x-rays to see how bad the damage is to the "roots" of the teeth too. Play nice next time.:)
Reply:First, it hurts because your jaw was hit. That's bone %26amp; muscle. They'll take x-rays of you to make sure no bones were damaged. Depends on how bad the injury is. I'm sure you're hurting.

Your dentist, though, can fix it quickly, if it's only the teeth %26amp; not bone. They do a procedure when they make two molds, One- you bite down, (It copies your "bite" - be natural) They go back %26amp; harden it (That's their copy of the broken teeth) Then they take the rest of the "mold" (is mushy) %26amp; put it to the portion of the tooth (teeth) that is (are) broken, you give them a nice clean bite, so they know. (New copy) They will go %26amp; take an x-ray of this (with the mold in place) All the while the suction thing is going on, to dry your mouth %26amp; the mold. Dentist will take off excess %26amp; you're good to go! It all looks natural. Dentists are great people.

(Your teeth will be half plaster, half real--but only u know this....)

Or the other case could be that you only chipped them %26amp; the dentist could file them down.

All depends on your mouth, believe it or not. Everyone is different.

Do you think this warrants a dentist visit? My son just took a fall and one of his front teeth shifted inward?

when his mouth hit. his gums are a little swollen and there is a little blood but not much and the tooth didn't break off in any place. I am babysitting several children so I can't run to the dentist right now anyway, just thought maybe you've had a similiar situation. Thankyou!!

Do you think this warrants a dentist visit? My son just took a fall and one of his front teeth shifted inward?
i had a similar one, my daughter fell and hit her tooth. I didnt go to the dentist but later on asked him about it and he said since it was a baby one they wouldnt have done anything anyways unless pain was invovled or if infection happen they could pull it. My daughter had even chipped it. If its a permanent then call the dentist office to see.
Reply:yes take him
Reply:Yeah i would take him straight to a dentist
Reply:yes call the dentist right away - you might not be able to bring him right now but definitely make an appt to bring him asap
Reply:Of take him to the dentist. Are you qualified to see how much damage was done?
Reply:take the kid to the dentist
Reply:Yes, definitely.
Reply:It never hurts to call your dentist first to find out whether it warrants a visit or not.
Reply:YES. The damage may have already been done, but it is possible you can put the tooth back in its socket and not lose it. You may well have to do a root canal.

The dentist is your best option.

Edit - even if it is a baby tooth, take him to the dentist. They probably won't do a root canal on a baby tooth, but those teeth are important for establishing proper spacing for the adult tooth that will follow. You only have to take care of the teeth you need...that would be all of them.
Reply:Make time to go to the dentist if it is his/her permanent teeth.
Reply:i wouldnt, i think he'll be fine
Reply:i think that you should take him to the dentist, but why are you taking care of some many children if you cant handle it.
Reply:Well, its possible the tooth broke below the gum and if you don't take him soon, it could just die if not taken care of.
Reply:Get him to a dentist at your first opportunity. Even if it is not a permanent tooth he could still have done some damge that could effect him later. Err on the side of caution...
Reply:As soon as you get a chance take him to see a dentist, My niece did that when she was younger and they ended up putting a partial in her mouth because her space for her perminent teeth was closing in! Just because you can't see a part of the teeth chipped it could be only seen by X-rays!!! Hope everything goes well!
Reply:Yes, it probably warrents a dentist visit. My son dented in his two front baby teeth on his sister's head and had to have them pulled early. If the tooth is displaced it generally means substantial damage.
Reply:my 2 year old fell, there was a little black spot on the bottom corner of his front tooth, didn't seem to bother him we took him for a regular check up a few months later, they pulled the tooth, seems it was dead ??

If tooth is just bend in, I'm sure a dentist will take lots of monety to strighten, if it is a baby tooth, it's gonna fall out anyway
Reply:I would call the dentist and explain what happened. Best to hear from him if you should take your son in or not.
Reply:I think that you should call your Dentists for her/his advice.
Reply:How old is he. Either way, the tooth has visibly shifted. It might have damaged something within his gums. Call to make an appointment, and request their opinion on the phone. You can also go to web MD type of on-line sites.
Reply:How old is he? If he's pretty young and his teeth are not permanent, unless he complains, things will probably work themselves out. If he's older and on a second set of teeth, you probably should make the trip.
Reply:my son hit his mouth going for a basket ball when he was about 8 years old, I took him to the school dentist a couple of days later and they x-rayed it just to rule out that his teeth hadn't cracked or fractured anywhere.
Reply:go to the dentist for sure and make sure all is well and keep up with any checkups they may want to see him for since his tooth has been visibly knocked loose they will most likely tell you to keep him on a soft food diet. If he is at an age where it will come out soon anyway do not worry too much , I do not think they will give braces.
Reply:Oh My Gosh!

Just think, that fall could have done plenty worse to him.

Thankfully, it doesn't appear to be serious to us amateurs but who knows? We could be wrong.

Yes. It is a very good, smart idea to go see a dentist.

A good parent who really cares would.

A good dentist can do an X-Ray and has the experience to best decide what really is and is not serious.

There could be a crack or break beneath the gum line which you aren't noticing.
Reply:If its a baby tooth it probably wont matter, but the dr may want to pull it so its not uncomfy for your son. I would just call and ask to speak w/ someone about it, they can let you know if they feel they should see him right away or if its something that can wait
Reply:I just had an incident with a softball...got hit in the mouth and beside getting stitches on my lip my teeth were pushed into my gums...it is very painful...and yes you would need to take him to the dentist....i am going to have to have root canals on those teeth that are in my gum..if it's not taken care of now it could cause problems later down years from now..The dentist will not be able to do anything now while the gums are swollen but they can give him antibotics to keep it from infections...
Reply:My daughter caught a swing in the mouth after falling out of it. All of her front teeth were still in place but loose and in unusual positions. A trip to the dentist was very necessary. The damage could have lasted a life time. Call the dentist, ask him what you should do. Do it now !
Reply:yes asap

HELP! I flossed my teeth and the floss broke off between my molars.?

I geuss the floss was old and so it broke off between my molars when I flossed. I have a filling on one of them so it makes it difficult to get it out. I tried using Plackers those plastic toothpick/floss things, but it wont get it out. I cant go to the dentist because I dont have dental or enough money for a visit. Its hurting like hell I need to get it out. I need HELP like crazy. How do I get it out

HELP! I flossed my teeth and the floss broke off between my molars.?
I f you could get a floss threader they have them at the pharmacy or wal mart in the dental section. It will look like a needle with a huge eye on it usually they are plastic .Thread your floss through the threader like threading a needle and take it through the lowest opening between the two teeth where the floss is stuck once its sliding out the other side of you teeth near the tongue pull it the rest of the way through and grasp both ends and pull upward to dislodge the floss do this gently and try to avoid the filling .
Reply:Do you have a pair of tweezers? Try to grasp the minute fibers that inevitably hang out between the teeth somewhere. Good luck, it happens to me all the time and it is terribly frustrating. The dentist recommended anti-shred but it does the same thing just not as often.
Reply:Try flossing over it again, maybe it'll come out, but the tweezer idea sound much better. If no tweezers, try fine scissors (be careful) or try to get someone to help you.
Reply:i dont get it-- its just stuck between your teeth? swish, floss, tweeze, and if u want a better answer explain yourself
Reply:HELLO.FIRST OF ALL STOP USING FLOSS.YOU HAVE BETTER INTERDENTAL AIDS AVAILABLE LIKE INTERDENTAL PROXA BRUSHES WHICH ARE THE BEST.YOU SHOULD VISIT A DENTIST AND GET YOUR TEETH SCALED.DONT EVER USE TOTH PIKS AS THEY MIGHT INJURE YOUR GUMS.DONT HESITATE GOING TO A DENTIST AS IT WOULD NOT BE EXPENSIVE FOR SUCH A SMALL DENTAL PROCEDURE.
Reply:What you could do is buy some tweezers and pull the floss out if some of it is hanging. However, it might break again and leave part of it stuck in between your teeth.

Another thing you could do is buy a waterpik. These are great for cleaning out bits of food in between teeth that get stuck after meals. However, they are expensive.

You could also try to floss it out with another piece of floss.

If none of these work, it will probably come out eventually.

Broken power chain?

i woke up this morning when i brushed my teeth i noticed the powerchain was broken on top and a bracket was broken on bottom i have a appointment on the 8 of april if i go get them fixed will they do normal stuff or will i still have to go in april its been 3 weeks since last adjustment ?????????

Broken power chain?
Most likely, you're going to have to get them fixed ASAP. If you don't have the powerchain, then your teeth won't be soo hot. They might put a thicker chain to have it not break again and change the bracket and put a new wire in.

The last time I went to the dentist, I also had to get a powerchain but it kept on ripping. On the fourth try, it actually stayed on!(But my mouth was really sore)

I hope you the best of luck!%26lt;3

Gap between front teeth, and some other problem, please help.?

I hit a cement wall before, and it broke part of my front teeth.

Now I have a gap between my front teeth, and I am wearing braces, but it doesn't seem to help to close the gap. So do you know what I should do?

Also here is a picture of my actual teeth, if you need to know more about it. http://i11.tinypic.com/5y1vujk.jpg

Gap between front teeth, and some other problem, please help.?
The gap will eventually close with the ortho treatment. The dentist will possibly place a bonding (to fix the broken part) after your ortho is complete, or during if possible, and when your through with growing he may recommend veneers. It wouldn't be advisable to place the veneers now since your teeth haven't fully erupted yet, they would only need to be replaced a few years later. Hope I've been of some help and good luck with your ortho treatment. Your teeth are looking good from what I could tell from the photo.
Reply:My brother did the exact same thing doing the butterfly stroke while swimming and came down on the pool. The dentist made coverings for his missing sections, but they've never been too permanent so he had the dentist yank out his teeth and put in fake ones.
Reply:ask your dentist or research online
Reply:Ask your orthodontist about a Power Chain. They work well to close gaps.
Reply:BBBBBBBBBWAHHHHH loolololol poor baby u need veneers
Reply:Don't worry. I had a gap when I was a child and it closed once my wisdom teeth came in. Also, when your teeth straighten out a bit more, your orthodontist can work miracles to make them look perfect, even if it means putting a crown over them. There are cosmetic procedures that he can do to make them look great. Try not to lose any sleep over this.
Reply:Your orthodontist should be able to close the gap with the braces, i had a gap too but my braces closed it off, so talk to your orthodontist.
Reply:It looks like you may need a bonding put on the tooth... after the ortho is done... but if you don't like the way that looks you can always have a crown placed over the tooth to make it look just like your other teeth same color and everything... this procedure would have to wait until you get older and your teeth have fully erupted....
Reply:Ok...Well i have a gap in my front teeth also. I have had this gap since I was born ( I am 12) and in two weeks I am getting braces. My dentist said that I would have to get braces first and then a after my braces come off I will get this retainer type thing that will go in the back of my front two teeth and that will stay in for another two years. I hope this helps, and I know the embarassment ur going through, but in reality in really doesnt look that bad...i looked at the picture and ur teeth look amazing just be greatful that the rest of ur teeth and straight.

I take prednisone everyday plus 8 other meds I take care of my teeth yet they are rotting any serious help?

I have Sarcoidosis which causes a person to have to take steroid drugs for very long periods of time. I have noticed that my teeth are rotting and breaking I can't quit taking the meds but I was hoping I could do something to try and help them other than brushing and flossing. I don't have insurance so going to a dentist is not an answer at this time.

I take prednisone everyday plus 8 other meds I take care of my teeth yet they are rotting any serious help?
One side-effect of almost all medications is dry mouth or xerostomia. Lack of saliva can cause decay so be sure to drink lots of water, use Biotene toothpaste and mouthwash - chew sugar free gum containing xylitol (biotene, spry, ice breakers, some trident gums). Avoid drinking soda/pop or lots of juice - especially don't sip these constantly during the day as the acid will further damage your teeth.

Chewing gum will stimulate saliva, saliva bathes the teeth and washes away debris - xylitol inhibits the adhesion of strep mutans (cavity causing bacteria) to the teeth.

Use a power toothbrush, slow down your brushing and concentrate on each individual tooth ensuring that you feel the bristles tickling on the gum below the teeth on both the cheek and tongue sides of your teeth, also lighten up the pressure hold your brush in your finger tips - pressing on the teeth stops the power brushes from working efficiently.

Floss after brushing and spitting but before rinsing - this way some of the toothpaste slurry will be passed between the teeth and may help remineralize weakened enamel.
Reply:It would seem that the large amount of drugs that you take might be causing your problems. Taking steroids does have serious side effects. Have you discussed it with your doctor? I'd would suggest a good quality soy protein shake, multivitamin (nonsynthetic), and calcium supplement to provide some basic nutritional support.
Reply:Many Medications can cause the salivary flow in your mouth to decrease causing dry mouth. If this is the case you will have a hard time keeping the teeth and gums clean and healthy because there is no saliva to wash the teeth. Make sure if this is the case you are not using mints or lozenges with sugar to counter act the dryness. You can try using a Fluoride rinse and there are some products that help with dry mouth (Biotene).

Teeth bonding for 16 mo old?

My 16 mo old daughter fell and hit her face on the kitchen floor, breaking off her two front teeth. One is chipped on the corner, the other has the bottom part gone. The dentist said he could bond them and they would look new. He said we could do this whenever. Should I do it now or wait until she's a little older? There are no nerves exposed, and she is perfectly fine eating, talking, etc. I don't think she would sit still right now, she cried when we walked in the office. It makes my heart sink to see her smile and have chipped teeth. Has anyone experienced anything like this?

Teeth bonding for 16 mo old?
Well she will loose them eventually but it's going to be a very long time before she does. My daughter is going on 7 and still hasn't lost a tooth. If I was you I would bond the teeth because a lot of little kids are going to bug her about it when she starts school and she may feel insecure about it. Looks do matter even to small children. No matter how many times you tell her she is beautiful it won't matter.

They will give her something to calm her down before they do the procedure but make sure you find someone that has experience with children her age.

Good Luck on whatever you decide. But you should do what your heart tells you to do not what other people tell you to!!!
Reply:well if there baby teeth, won't new ones grow? cause you get the baby teeth and the adult teeth.
Reply:they will wear down or possibly rot, i would bond them
Reply:If she's not in pain, don't make her sit through it. She's going to lose those teeth anyway.

She's still your pretty little girl.
Reply:take her to another dentist, get a second opinion.

I do know that altering, or pulling baby teeth can effect the way that your daughters adult teeth will come in.

please take her to another dentist.

or if you think that she is fine, no pain and eating well, I would just leave it alone. sounds like just a waste of money and why put your child through that. insurance will prob. not pay for it anyway, bonding is cosmetic
Reply:why do that when she will just lose those teeth n a few years thats alot of unnessary pain
Reply:Yes, I did, My daughter was older, she was 4. She had cracked her tooth when she was 3 1/2 I was going to wait until she just lost her tooth and got her new tooth but it started decaying. So we went to the dentist, she was nervous for the first visit but he was really nice. The final visit where they fixed her tooth was a nightmare, she was so scared and screaming. The doctor even snapped at her. I was in tears. That night I made her a peanut butter sandwich and the "new" piece of tooth the Dentist put on came off!! I called back the next day and was told we could have it reapplied. I asked what would happen if it wasn't reapplied and they said she would be fine without it, the tooth had been sealed off so no infection would occur, the decay was grinded away and sealant put on so she didnt HAVE to have the fake part reapplied. Thats what we did. Just let her have her cute little goofy tooth. Now I know they could have done all that without having to pay the extra money for the fake part to be placed on.
Reply:I don't think I would worry so much about the one that the bottom is missing, just keep an eye on it to make sure it doesn't start to rot or bother her. The chipped one, could the dentist maybe grind it down a little if it's sharp, make it even with the other one maybe. She will have these teeth for a few more years before she will lose them for her adult teeth. I don't know if I would bother to have them bonded if it's going to cost quite a bit and to make her sit so long for the 2 to be done.

I'm sure she is still a cutie even with the busted teeth.
Reply:If these are her adult teeth have them fixed

if baby teeth well just call her snuggle tooth till they fall out
Reply:My two year old is missing 3 teeth because of the same thing. He was running and fell on the coffee table. At first it just loosened them then the dentist told me that they would tighten back up. Now they are gone. I would have them bonded. They can put her to sleep and do the work. This would make you feel better and deter the questions by others wondering what happened to your baby. If I had the chance I would do it.

If you can not get to a dentist should you use a temporary filling to cover a hole broken out of a tooth or ar

and how do you clear out the bacteria before applying a temporary filling?

If you can not get to a dentist should you use a temporary filling to cover a hole broken out of a tooth or ar
You can not get the bacteria out without the help of a dentist. That is one of the many reasons we need our dentists. Do yourself a favor, save some money by not buying that cheap temporary filling and go see a dentist. They will remove all the decay and put a proper filling in. If you wait too long the cavity may go into the nerve and you will wish you hadn't waited.
Reply:oh no

this once happened to my partner.....

we was having a good session (oral) and my balls

was banging and swaying so hard they snapped her 2 front teeth.

we carried on and she was grateful for my hot fish mouth wash i sprayed on to the area,,

anyway after we'd had another good session minutes later

we capped the broken teeth with dried love glue and

use Juicy fruit chewing gum ,, until u get a dentist

hope this helps
Reply:If you dont have any pain with the peice out, rinse your mouth with Listerine before you apply the temporary cover. There is a kit put out that I used to get for my hubby when his teeth were bad and it was made by Dentek. It's relatively cheap too, no more than five bucks. You really need to cover that hole up since bacteria in your mouth can make the hole bigger or cause an infection. Not to mention that the edges around the hole are probably sharp and cutting your tongue or cheek. Kroger, Walgreens and Wal-mart all carry the kit that I know of. Just make sure to get yourself to the dentist as soon as he has an appointment available.

Hope this helps!
Reply:This happened to me the other day. I did buy the temporary filling stuff and it works, I recommend however that you do not keep it in more than 24-48 hours, also if you are having pain as well try some Clove Oil, it does WONDERS!

How long should it take for the swelling to disappear after getting wisdom teeth removed???

I'm getting my wisdom teeth out over spring break (not fun, I know..). I'm pretty nervous about the process. It'll be my first surgery. But I'll be getting them out on a Thursday, and then I have school on that Monday. Will the swelling be gone? How long does it take the swelling to disappear for most people? My friend told me that she was swollen for a month after the process. I'm pretty worried because my senior prom is the weekend after I get my wisdom teeth out!

How long should it take for the swelling to disappear after getting wisdom teeth removed???
The pain should last for about 2 to 3 days.

Heres some tips:

Do not vigorously rinse your mouth out during the first 24 hours because this disturbs the blood clots that are part of the healing process. After meals, rinse gently with warm salt water (one teaspoon of table salt to a glass of water).

You should keep your toothbrush away from the area for the first couple of days, but brush the rest of your teeth as you normally would.

At first, it may be possible to feel small fragments of bone with your tongue. These are the edges of the tooth socket and will soon disappear as the gum heals.

Depending on the type of stitches used, they may need to be removed (arrangements will be made for this to be done). If dissolvable stitches have been used, they will disappear 7 to 10 days after the operation.

To begin with, you should eat soft foods, gradually returning to a normal diet once your jaw feels less stiff. Don't drink alcohol or hot fluids such as tea or coffee, and don't eat spicy food or smoke until the gum has fully healed. These can make the wound bleed and will delay healing.
Reply:I looked liked a beaten chipmunk for like 5 days but I think it was because mine were impacted. All of my friends had no problem whatsoever and were fine by the next day, so you'll probably be fine. And if not by Monday, definitely by your prom.
Reply:I just got my wisdom teeth out 3 days ago. (I got my entire left side taken out, and one of the teeth was impacted.) The swelling wasn't a big problem for me; perhaps I was lucky, I dunno. My surgery was in the morning, and the swelling was gone by night. I was given advice to put an ice pack to my cheek as soon as I got home, and I did, which was probably why the swelling went down so fast. I was also prescribed some medicine to help with swelling (Etodolac), so maybe your dentist will prescribe you some. Now, the pain however, is a different issue...and also the fact that I'm constantly starving because I can barely eat solid foods. =(

And good luck with your wisdom teeth!

My granddaughter is 10 months old and hasnt cut her teeth yet, is this normal?

She has the appearance of an upper tooth, altho it hasnt broken the skin yet, she has had symptoms of teething since she was 3 or 4 months old..any suggestions?

My granddaughter is 10 months old and hasnt cut her teeth yet, is this normal?
buy her a infant toothbrush with some baby toothpaste.they have it in the baby section at wal mart for around $5.my daughter is 10 months and has 5 teeth now.she used the toothbrush to help cut a couple and they love the tootahpaste taste.
Reply:yes
Reply:Only time. Don't worry about it. Especially if mom or dad cut teeth a little late.
Reply:Yes perfectly normal some babies don't cut their first teeth until after their 1st birthday and then there are the ones that get teeth at 4 months. But don't worry they'll be in soon.
Reply:Give her alot of chew toys. It's okay. MA baby I know is 3, and he still doesn't know how to talk!! It seems to me like her lungs are weaker. That's all right. I am a doctor, and had a couple of mothers coming in with even 1 year baby's without teeth!! They'll grow in. If you want you can even call your doctor for extra positivity!
Reply:My son sprouted just at 11 months. I heard somewhere that the longer it takes the teeth to come through the prettier the teeth will be. My son has beautiful teeth thank goodness. It all depends on the person so don't worry. If it goes over a year and a couple of months, then call your dentist. Good luck.
Reply:My daughter will be a year old next week and doesn't have any teeth yet. Her pediatrician said that it is perfectly normal and she is following my genetic pattern as far as teeth and not her fathers. I didn't get my first until I was 18 months. She also said that her teeth would probably be healthier since they have spent more time in the natural fluoride produced in the gums.
Reply:That sounds a little slow but they all develop at different stages.........be patient, they'll come in soon enough and then she can bite you.........
Reply:Yes. My daughter didn't get her first tooth until she was 10 months either, and like yours, began teething symptoms at 4 months. Now it's 3 weeks later and her second has come in and two more are breaking the surface.

It's completely normal. In fact, her pediatrician said dentists like it when teeth come in later because they're less likely to get cavities.
Reply:Babies do things on their own timetables. To be honest, I don't even know how people can say what is normal or not for babies when they are so diverse. Teething can last for months without the actual teeth erupting until much later. Usually my rule of thumb is, if the doctor isn't concerned, then I don't have to be as concerned. I'm a mom so there is always some concern :-) So I'm sure your granddaughter is perfectly normal and those teeth will be here before you know it.
Reply:my daughter was 11 and 1/2 months before she got her teeth.
Reply:i dont think that is normal they should go see the dentist
Reply:my son got his at 12 mo. dr. said it was late but normal.
Reply:same concern i had with my daughter... few days before she turned 12 mos or 1 yr, her 2 front teeth finally came out!!! according to dentist, it is normal and nothing to worry if teeth shows up late.
Reply:My daughter had signs of teething as early as 4 months also, but she did not actually cut a tooth until she was 9 months old, don't worry, our ped said it is perfectly normal, all babies are different
Reply:sounds just like my nephew...his first 2 teeth just broke thru 2 days ago and he is 11 1/2 months old, he started teething at like 3-4 months as well...i have heard stories of babies not getting teeth untill after they have turned one..so just hang on they will come!!
Reply:I didn't get my teeth till I was 18 months old...all children develop different things at different speeds.

My daughter just got crowns on her front top teeth.?

is there an infection she can get? her father had said that he heard the dental assist say something like she can get an infection? but i dont recall her something anything. all i heard her say was if she eats apples or carrots or hard things that i should cut them into pieces and have her chew with her back teeth cuz it could break. can some1 clear this up for me? my daughter is 2 1/2 years old. thanks

My daughter just got crowns on her front top teeth.?
If her anterior teeth were crowned, they were probably in bad shape. Perhaps she meant to watch for an infection. If there is redness or puffiness possibly with pain, you should contact then because an abscess has formed.

Not sure what was meant about cutting things up unless she meant until the gums have healed. Gummy, sticky things can pull crown off so be cautious of those.

3 year old grinding her teeth....?

When my three year old sleeps she grinds her teeth and they are breaking and chiping. What can I do???

3 year old grinding her teeth....?
Honestly I would ask the dentist. I used to do the grinding all the time when I was young but mostly grew out of it. Mostly it was because I was nervous about something or I was being stressed out. Never have I broken or chipped a tooth though.
Reply:Teeth grinding is common process of growth, it is not in any way a health risk for young children. Report It

Reply:I would ask a dentist. My dentist told me not to worry about it. My daughter is 6 and still does it.
Reply:bring her to an orthodontic specialist. i've been grinding my teeth since young but not as bad as breaking my teeth. ( i only do it when i sleep)
Reply:my mom tells me that i used to teeth a lot because my teeth felt "itchy." have the toddler chew on something rubber and hard, like a rubber rattle or rubber animal. also, train it to eat munchy fruits and vegetables, such as celery, apples, carrots, etc. be sure that it drinks a lot of milk, as milk makes the teeth healthy and strong.
Reply:Have you told her doctor or dentist? they can help my 10 year old has done that all of his life!

Tooth looks to be broken what to do?

After visiting the dentist to get a filling I notice a front tooth close to the filling is beginning to crack, a chip off the tooth looks like its going fall off.

I noticed her getting annoyed when my gums started to bleed should I return to the same dentist ?

And can this tooth be repaired without too much expense?

Any advice would be appreciated

Tooth looks to be broken what to do?
I would go and see a different dentist, who has the right attitude.

You are paying her wages, and she gets annoyed if your gum bleeds!. I think she is in the wrong profession and you deserve a better service than that, after all it's not cheap.

I can't say whether the repair will be expensive, only a dentist can tell you that.
Reply:Could go to the dentist.
Reply:take out all of them
Reply:If you're comfortable in going back to that dentist, try another. Your concerns may be unfounded - but that's not the issue.
Reply:Go back and tell her you are not happy and ask to see someone else if you dont want her to do it.
Reply:Perhaps try a different dentist. You need to feel comfortable with your dentist.

Good Luck.
Reply:you should go to a dentist .he knows better what to do.
Reply:Problem with dentists is these days, none are really NHS so you end up paying for whatever treatment you have unless you are on benefits...getting annoyed cos your gums were bleeding...she should have advised you about that instead of getting annoyed....its not easy to get into another dentist either so get an emergency appt for her again and if she doesnt deal with you properly...complain...
Reply:When a Tooth looks to be broken the best way to do is to removed the teeth or replace it with another new artificial teeth
Reply:You aren't obligated to only one dentist, if you aren't comfortable with her then change, it's your health and money. Alot of peoples gums bleed, it could be a gum disease, neglet whatever, the point is she shouldn't of gotten angry at you for this. She should of been professional about your situation and told you what you can do to prevent this from happening. Usually it means you are not brushing your teeth 3 times a day. Get a stronger tooth brush and brush it 3 times a day. You will see more blood come out at first, but then slowly it will stop. I had this problem for a while and then i stopped procrastinating. Also you have a couple of choices as to what to do with the chipped tooth, file it down, replace the chipped area(recommended), leave it or get it pulled out. Go to another dentist that doesn't judge you on the condition of your teeth and will make you feel comfortable.
Reply:you dont have to go back and see the same one, but if possible you would be best to either stay with the same one or even just change within the practice, they have your notes and will know your dental history, but if you really dont want to go back its no big deal any new dentist could still deal with the prob without your notes.

what ever you decide your best to go back while the problem is small and can be fixed!!
Reply:It may be carries,A type of infective disease of tooth.I think Ur front tooth in infected in carries.I recommend u to go to the dentist and 'root canal' Ur tooth or pull it down.
Reply:They have many different dentists so find one that you are comfortable with and trust and have them check it out. If you aren't happy with the answer they give you then try a second opinion. Always go with your gut instinct when seeing any doctor--it's normally right.
Reply:go back to the same dentist and tell him of te situation, if it is something he might have accidently done tey should not charge you anything. if it was something that was already happening then he will be able to give a proper price, The price all depends on what material is used, how many surfaces it has to cover, and if a filling can properly fix it.

Teeth grinding?

how can i stop i have seen a denist and he wants to make a mouth guard for a very high price i cannot afford i have had some of my back teeth pulled because of breaking them the cost of root canal is so high and my insurance does not pay for it what else can i do

Teeth grinding?
maybe try one of those sports mouth guards that you can buy at any sporting goods store in place of a dental mouth guard. sorry about the problems you are having. insurance...they love to take our money when we are healthy, but hate to oay out.My little boy had to have dental surgery, at the hospital when he was 3, the dentist refused to do any work any other way, insurance refused to pay....best wishes
Reply:There is a guard I think that you can get from the drug store. Saw it on TV, go to CVS or RiteAid and grab one.
Reply:omg sry i wish i could help
Reply:try wearing a mouth guard like ones the football players wear. Cheaper and it may just work. If not, the dentist made one will be cheaper in the long run instead of paying for so much dental work, the time and pain involved.....
Reply:You can get a mouthpiece at wal-mart or Target in the sporting goods section. Football players %26amp; boxers use them to protect their teeth, but you could use it at night to make the grinding less damaging.
Reply:I'm going to leach onto your question because I grind my teeth too. Want a star for hosting my parasitic tendencies? K.

Oh, I turn the thermostat down low to sleep...colder air seems to help.

give this a try its very inexpensive. if all else fails you have only wasted 10 bucks but if it works you have saved hundreds and your teeth

What material is most like teeth ?

Im doing a science project where you have to test wut different substances will make a tooth decay. I need to use something like teeth to do my expirement on. What do you suggest besides eggs because they are kind of like teeth but it will break down faster. What should i use??????

What material is most like teeth ?
Tooth decay is mostly caused by the bacterium called Streptococcus mutans. The bug lives in the film that forms on our teeth (called plaque). It digests food material that is in the moi9th. One of the bacterium's by products are acids. It is those acids that cause the damage to our teeth.one of the acids (probably the easiest to get is vinegar). Vinegar is a 3-5% solution of acetic acid dissolved in water. Get some animal or human teeth (try a slaughter house, or a dentist, or a friend with young children). Take pictures of the teeth and then place them in vinegar for about a week. The damage should be noticeable. Take another set of pectures and compare the two sets.

Good luck on your project.

Reply:Ivory.. eggs are mainly made up of calcium carbonate
Reply:Ivory? A fingernail? Maybe a soft rock?
Reply:Call dental surgeons in your area and ask if you can get some of the teeth they extract (they disinfect them !) Say it's for educational purposes.
Reply:THE best material for teeth is gold. Gold has the same temperature as teeth, same reaction to cold and heat, its as maleable and has the same properties as enamel an dentin.

Seeing how it is Sunday, and there are really no offices open today, the best thing you can do is go back to the doctor on Monday who put the temporaries on, have him put new temporaries on, or put the crown/veneer on that he has prepped for. Go back the the doctor that you originally started treatment with. He can help you much better than any other doctor, because he knows exactly what is going on with you.

Considering that it is Sunday, %26amp; nothing is available to you, I would do internet research today on getting veners %26amp; the process that is performed. Then tomorrow, when officies are open, start calling around for prices if the vener route is how you want to go. I personally think veners would be your best bet %26amp; you don't have to worry about temporarys ever again.

Just go. You can get on a payment plan. The dentist office isn't a house of pain anymore like it used to be. They're much better with pain killers and ways to make you feel better, sooner. Go now or you could get a very bad infection in your mouth.

Why dont teeth grow back?

Why is it that bones in the body will heal but your teeth dont. Say i broke my arm, it would heal over time. But if i had a hole in a tooth it would never heal. Why is this?

Why dont teeth grow back?
I think that your teeth are made of a different substance then your bones, like teeth don't have marrow. Also, teeth have a thin layer of enamal to protect them, unlike bones, which have skin and muscles. Then we have baby teeth too, which just pop out after about 10 years. So I don't think that bones and teeth are the same thing, which would explain why they don't heal.
Reply:I've studies disproving that belief.
Reply:the bones will grow together. If you lose a tooth, it is gone. Just like if you lost a bone in your arm, it wouldn't grow back.
Reply:because it is connected and generates from a root. the root is killed with infection and decay. since the root is dead, it cant grow.
Reply:because your teeth bones are different then the rest of the bones in your body...they are still bones but they are different
Reply:It's very simple!!

Your teeth is external visible part of your body, apparently non-vital, invitee part, While your bones is inbuilt that will consisting of self-maintenance and corrective compulsive organism that will heal your bones, While teeth do not have any external apparent healing and maintaining organism that will support teeth for rectifications of problems or growth.

Because of That only Our teeth, if broken or fall down second time it will not grow-up third time.
Reply:Teeth have a live pulp, Just like a flower has a root. Once the root is dead the flower will now regrow and sprout again. It will eventually die. Just like your tooth, it also has a root that is live. Once it is dead the tooth has no nerve and is dead.

One of my teeth is discolored because I broke it once..is there a way too make it look white?

the nerve of the tooth died so the color is grayish and i want to know if there is a way to make it look white like the rest of my teeth.

would whitening help? (like the professional one done by the dentist)

One of my teeth is discolored because I broke it once..is there a way too make it look white?
you need a porcelain veneer
Reply:Yes. But try Crest Whitening Strips first. They're about $40 a box.
Reply:I think you should go to the dentist and see what they think is best thing to do. I had the same thing and they just filled it in with same color of my current teeth, and I couldnt even notice it.

Just don't do it yourself, you need a professional.
Reply:Why don't you cap your broken tooth, it will look perfect.
Reply:whiting will not help. cap will be very expensive. a veneer would be your best bet and if you cant afford try a dental school
Reply:Since the problem you're having is internal, the only way to whiten the tooth would be internally. Your dentist could make a small hole on the backside of your tooth and place a cotton pellet with bleaching solution (not your regular Clorox bleach, do not try this at home) in it for you to keep in for about a week, then they would remove it. If it needs to be lightened further, the process would be repeated. At the end of the treatment, the access hole would be filled in with tooth colored (composite) restorative material. If this process fails, pretty much the only alternative would be a porcelain crown or veneer. Best of luck to you.

How do I stop grinding my teeth?

I've been told that I grind my teeth.

I'm guessing I do this in my sleep because I wasn't aware of it.

My two front upper teeth have been chipped and fixed, my last dentist said that if I kept grinding my teeth then I would break the fixed bit off my teeth.

He never told me how to stop grinding my teeth.

Does anyone know how i'm ment to stop this?

I've had orthadontic treatment and wear and vacuumed plate at night time.

How do I stop grinding my teeth?
It is strange. If a dentist is unable to suggest a remedy about teeth grinding then who else can? Apparently, your present dentist does not consider teeth grinding as an important issue except that it would break the fixed bit off your teeth.

I suggest you see another dentist before it is too late.

Time and again I have suggested in this forum that people should not ask questions on serious medical conditions because they would get half-baked varied answers which would confuse more than provide real solution.

but other than wearing one of those at night, i really don't think there's too much you can do, because we are asleep when we do it...

I grind my teeth also at night and my Dr. told me to just go in any atheletics dept of a store and buy those mouth pieces football players wear instead of those expensive ones you fine JUST FOR GRINDING in the dental section.

If that is not working for you, I have NO idea what else you can do. Maybe using a mouth piece for the TOP and BOTTOM of your teeth??
Reply:Please check with your dentist about a guard to place in your mouth at night. It will be made of plastic, and keep you from grinding your teeth. Take care.
Reply:Your dentist can make you a night guard which you place on your teeth before going to sleep. This will protect your teeth when grinding.

Reply:I don't know if there is away to stop it either. The only time I am aware that I am grinding my teeth is when I peel potatoes when I am making dinner.

When I realise what I am doing I stop.
Reply:Take them out at night and put them in warm water with a Sterident tablet.

Rinse well in the morning as that stuff tastes horrible. lmao
Reply:hey gurl well i know for sure that you grined your teeth if you have worms and I know that sounds bad but it is very common and most people dont know they have them
Reply:Ask your doctor/dentist. They will be able to help because they have had a lot of experiance with patients that grind their teeth (I'm one of them.) You can also go to the drug store like CVS/Walgreens/Walmart, and look for a mouth guard that kind of looks like a clear retainer (plastic.) These are specially designed for people (adults) who grind your teeth. I do believe they have sizes, if not, you may have to see the dentist/doctor after all. It's also cheaper to buy a mouth guard.

All you have to do is put it on when you sleep. Make sure to clean it everyday. You can buy a special cleanser that's for retainers and such, but it will work with a mouth guard as well. If you run out of it, you can use a toothbrush with toothpaste and just scrub the guard and rinse.
Reply:Dear Sarah,

There are appliances, expressly made, to prevent night grinding of teeth. One brand name is "Night Guard". However, I am surmising, the "vacuumed plate", you are wearing at night, is an orthodontic retainer of some sort. Most likely, its presence, precludes utilizing the cited appliance.

However, switching to Invisalign Aligners, in lieu of your retainer, may be an option. The following link will provide you with more information:

http://www.invisalign.com/generalapp/us/...

These custom machined, clear plastic aligners fit over your teeth, top and bottom, progressively moving your teeth into place. You wear them all the time, except when eating or cleaning your teeth. They will align your teeth, and keep you from grinding them against each other.

Please bear in mind, the grinding may be due to TMJ disorder, or it could be stress related. The mechanical devices will protect your teeth. However, I don't think they will do much, if anything, to stop the grinding and clenching, that goes on while sleeping.

My son is 9 months old and he breaking though his first teeth, can that be cause of him refusing food?

Yes, it was the same with our little girl. She's10 months and now has 7 teeth. But, I would ask the doctor to be sure in case it is not an ear infection or something else. If she is refusing a bottle, that could be because the suction is hurting her ears. Good luck! A fever is NOT a sign of teething.. Very low grade is OK but you should always call you doctor. The same happened to my baby and as soon as I called the doctor she had me come in and it ended up being Coxsackie disease.

My son is 9 months old and he breaking though his first teeth, can that be cause of him refusing food?
Yes, some foods can irratate the area where the tooth is coming in and some foods can make the pain worse than it really is.
Reply:Yes unfortunatly. Not only is he feeling yucky, but the foods can be bothering his gums. Frozen ice pops usually are helpfull, and use tylenol during the really bad times. You can get suggestions from his pediatritian as well.
Reply:Also try frozen waffles.
Reply:komal that s normal he might even have a fever that also is normal and cranky. if u can get something to numb the pain( any pharmacy will have it for babies) it helps.give ur baby some thing to chew on. it will keep him distacted and it will make his gums feel better
Reply:Absolutely it could. Try infant paracetamol if he seems distressed or teething gel.

I find cold half-slices of cucumber work well for my 9mth baby too.

If nothing seems to be working, or if he becomes too upset, you should see his GP, just in case.

Good luck :-)
Reply:It is possible. If his mouth is hurting he may not want to eat.
Reply:Yes! His mouth hurts and he doens't want to put anything in it.
Reply:yeah it probabky bothering him to chew. get him the nighttime orajel its a better strength then regular
Reply:yes because he feels icky and just imagine how much his mouth must hurt him. Just give him soft stuff for now and most of all make sure that he is drinking plenty of liquids so that he doesn't dehydrate. If he has gone more than a week without any foods then I'd call his doctor but as long as you get those fluids in him he should be fine. Try giving him Tylenol or Motrin for the pain. That might make him feel better and if he feels better then he might just want to eat. Good Luck

Wisdom teeth!!!! help!?

All four of my wisdom teeth are grown in, but I am having the most problems with my top left wisdom tooth. It is literally breaking off. I made an appointment with UIC, but the earliest they can see me is friday at 130. What should I do??

- Should I try to get an appointment somewhere else?

- Should I just wait til friday?

What should I do to this tooth? I feel so nasty. If they pull it out on friday, how will I feel after the surgery? Would I be able to return to regualr activities the next day??

Wisdom teeth!!!! help!?
You could try to get an earlier appointment somewhere else if it's really bothering you that much.

If they do pull it out, you won't be able to return to your regular activities the next day, you are going to have to rest, keep your head elevated at all times, take medications, you may swell up a bit, this depends on the person... I just had all 4 of mine out, and i swelled up but only on my bottom gums, on the upper ones it's hardly noticeable, so i guess there's a chance you won't look like a chipmunk! :P

After surgery i felt numb, and swollen. I haven't had too much pain, just a feeling of pressure. And after surgery, you're not supposed to eat solid, or greasy foods. You'll be stuck on a liquid diet for the first day, and on a soft diet several days after that. Of course your doctor will tell you all these things and with more detail applied to your case.

I have a dental bridge for my upper row of front teeth.. Should there be a gap between my gums and the bridge?

About a year ago, I had an accident that resulted in the loss of 4 of my upper front teeth.. The dentist pulled the broken ones and installed a 6 tooth long bridge that attached itself to both of my canines. I have a metal plate underneath, and the bridge is permanent (at least for ten years or so), but there appears to be a gap of space between the bridge and my upper gums. Should this be there?... Shouldn't the bridge be pushed all the way up to the gum to hide any spacing in between?... It looks horrible when I smile because of the blackness from the gap... makes my mouth look somewhat rotten to those who do not know that what they are seeing is a gap between the bridge and gums. The first time my dentist was to install the bridge, it turned out that the lab has made it in the incorrect size, so I had to come back... he seemed skiddish upon installing the second one, I think he knew it didn't fit correctly, but installed it anyway to save time and money for himself. What can I do?

I have a dental bridge for my upper row of front teeth.. Should there be a gap between my gums and the bridge?
The fact that you got the "vibes" that this wasn't done quite right is a bad indicator. No one wants to feel that way when getting aesthetic dental work accomplished.

The key to handling this is to ask your dentist if this would be okay in his mouth. In other words, would he want to see that gap if that bridge were in his mouth. Unless you get a good answer that makes the utmost sense to you, I suggest you press the point to have it redone.

Now, I'm not being critical in that there could be a thousand reasons why it was left in that manner, but it needs to be communicated to you and make sense to you. If it doesn't add up then go to another office and get a second opinion and compare notes.

Best of luck to you!!!
Reply:IF THE DENTIST DIDN'T FEEL COMFORTABLE PUTTING IN THE BRIDGE BUT DID IT ANYWAY, HE'S AT FAULT AND SHOULD REDO THE WORK AND PUT IN IN A BRIDGE THAT FITS PROPERLY.

WHAT YOU SHOULD DO IS REMIND HIM HE DIDN'T FEEL COMFORTABLE PUTTING IT IN BUT DID IT ANYWAY AGAINST HIS BETTER JUDGMENT. HE SHOULD DO IT AGAIN.

Anybody ever heard of teeth rotting from the inide out?

I'm 18 and I went to the dentist for the first time a couple weeks ago cuz I been havin toothaches. I knew I had a couple rotten teeth in back that broke, but I thought the rest weren't too bad. At least I didn't think they looked too bad. Anyways, the dentist said most of my teeth aren't worth keeping cuz they're all rotten on the inside. I had the back teeth pulled out cuz that was all could afford at the time, now my 2 top front teeth came out. It's all I can do to pay for getting my teeth pulled out, but I think I can manage that. I just won't have money left to get new teeth for quite a while. What will guys think if I'm completely toothles at 18?

Anybody ever heard of teeth rotting from the inide out?
Teeth dont really rot from the inside. You get a cavity in the enamel which spreads into the dentine underneath. Dentine is softer than enamel so it kinda looks like a mushroom shape, you have a shell of enamel and decay underneath.

Dont leave the extractions for too long if you can help it. You run the risk of abscesses and infection and will be in a lot of pain with possible facial swelling which can be dangerous.

There are lots of options available in regards to how to restore your smile, talk it over with your dentist. Perhaps you can discuss a payment plan with him and pay some money every month.

Hope this helps!
Reply:Maybe a calcium supplement might help.

Don't pull them until the last minute.

County hospital will pull them for you.
Reply:If I was you I'd just get them all pulled out and go from there. It's not bad at all with no teeth. I had bad teeth all my life so soon as I turned 18 I had all the rest of my teeth pulled out. I didn't get dentures so I just go toothless, but it's ok. Some guys are kinda turned off by it but some guys like it. My bf thinks I look good and so do I, and I don't worry about what other people think. Hope everything works out for you. BTW I'm 21 now.

Removal (Extraction) Of All My Teeth @ Aged 24, And Replace With Mini Implants ???

Hi, I'm 24 %26amp; have always suffered with my teeth.

I have 5 Reasons Why!

1) When I was born I ran a Very High Temperature - Which caused problems with my teeth formation (not Very Strong).

2) I have Dry Mouth - From My Anti Depression Tablets.

3) I'm Extreamley Frightened of The Dentist.

4) Lack Of Money.

5) Unfortunately I drink a lot of 100% Fruit Juice %26amp; Coke Zero!

Anyway, My teeth have been crumbling away for the last Two / Three Years( Without a Single trip to the dentist, so no longer NHS - Can't find one near me away).

Recently I went to see a dentist (private) %26amp; they've quoted me £3995 to bring my teeth back reasonably good health.

But They Could Still Have Serious Problems In a Few Yrs, as the fillings, caps etc can get damaged.

I'm now considering Having all (whats left - As I've had 3-4 removed %26amp; 4 are broken, so need removing) of my teeth removed %26amp; having the same day (mini) implants put in under a general.

Any Idea How Much %26amp; Where I can get this done ???

Thanks Em

Removal (Extraction) Of All My Teeth @ Aged 24, And Replace With Mini Implants ???
Em,

My partner left her teeth and didn't go to the dentist for years. She had all of her teeth put right, and even had two veneers and a cap on the front teeth. It cost us almost £4000.00, but our dentist let us pay over a number of weeks/months. Her teeth are now excellent. The cost of mini implants is horrendous, and you have to have the "pegs" inserted, then wait for the gums to heal before you get the teeth fitted over them. The cheapest and best option is to save your own teeth if possible. You can have bridges fitted to any remaining teeth which act as an anchor for "false" ones to fill the gaps where others have been removed. I would listen to all the options your dentist can offer before going for anything at all. Your dentist is in the best position to give you advice on what would be most suitable for your situation.

Good luck with it all. My partner persevered and is now much more confident and outgoing, and isn't ashamed to smile at people.
Reply:As for your fear of dentists - take more depression meds.

I hear that lots of people go to Thailand for dentistry. Since it can often times be quite costly.

Search for some Thailand dentistry sites. If you look there I don't think you'll be afraid of the price.

My teeth they are messed up?
you are so right about it being exspensive. my personal advice is go to mexico. i recently needed a tooth pulled and when i called a local dentist the total cost after x ray, office visit ect... was $422.00.whatever!!!!! i went to mexico and got it done for $30.00 bucks and that was with the pain medicine included. mexico rocks.. just make sure that the dentist is a real dentist there are alot that pretend to be. and make sure they have runing water you wouldnt want to rinse with dirty water. the dentist i went to spoke great english and had been practicing dentisry for over 16 years. i couldnt believe the price difference. i have also gone back several times since to have other dental work done...
Reply:The best thing is to get a job with dental insurance as a benefit. It's really the only practical way. Dental work like what you describe is very expensive and no one is going to just give you money.
Reply:Try going down to your local or state Health Department. Many states (GA for sure) have these facilities to offer extremely cheap to free healthcare. (Depending on income.)

They can help you out for sure. And they work with your income, making it affordable to you.

Google it!

Good luck to you!

Are teeth whiteners really safe for the teeth??

I was told by an assisant dentist that teeth whiteners are not really a good thing for teeth as it eventually breaks down the fibres within the tooth itself as the inner part is more fragile to it. Thus the tooth will eventually weaken. Have you heard this too?

Are teeth whiteners really safe for the teeth??
carbamyl peroxide is the active ingredient in most products sold as whitening and they are not bad for your teeth. it makes your teeth a little touchy for a couple days following whitening and that's it. be careful believing what dental assistants tell you....they do not even go to college!
Reply:I have heard this also but I tried the whitening strips and they work buttttttttttt it made my teeth very sensitive so I stopped.
Reply:I agree to that... but it really whitens teeth,, you nah', 'everything-under-the-sun' has its own advantage and disadvantage/s... it's like laundry - you wash it, so it's clean,, but then you also harm it's fabric...

-you can try baking soda with a lil' salt.... it helps,,,,
Reply:Teeth whitners are that great and they ***** your teeth u by causing damage to the enamel, I'm getting my teeth whitened by the dentist, it will be the in-office bleaching one.

What will ultimately happen if i dont get treatment for my decayed teeth?

I have about 7 teeth in my mouth that are really bad off they are decayed and i've had terrible pain that ends up going away after about a week then the tooth gets numb, one has broken off all the way... all of them are back teeth

What will ultimately happen if i dont get treatment for my decayed teeth?
The tooth will die and eventually fall out. This will mean that the opposing tooth will overerupt and eventually fall out. Teeth behind the missing tooth will fall forward and also eventually fall out. Also, if you don't have teeth, you won't be able to chew your food. Poor dental hygiene leads to bone loss in the jaw and you may think that you can just wear dentures, but if you have radical bone loss, there is nothing to put the dentures on.

Poor dental hygiene has been linked to heart disease, although not much is known about this yet.
Reply:The pain goes away when the nerve inside the tooth ties. This is literally an infection in your mouth. Infections can spread to other parts of your body. Teeth that cannot be saved should be extracted. Teeth that can be saved may require a variety of treatments. Either way, this will only continue to cause problems without treatment.
Reply:The decay will go deeper into the pulp of the tooth. The pain and discomfort will be severe. The teeth will either need endodontic therapy [root canal treatment} or extraction. If u opt to extract the teeth, your bite may change and teeth shift and overerupt. The best is to get dental care immediately.

Can I take 4 damaged teeth of mine while taking medicines for heart attack occured six months ago?

my 5 teeth needs replacement and only broken parts remains. it needs some surgery . is there any problem for undergoing the treatment. my dentist needs a concent letter from cardiologist.

Can I take 4 damaged teeth of mine while taking medicines for heart attack occured six months ago?
It MAY be that your dentist is concerned about the likelihood that you were prescribed a blood thinner after your heart attack.

You have been at risk of further heart attacks caused by blood clots forming at critical places. The blood thinners help prevent that.

The oral surgury you face means that there will be some bleeding. The blood thinning medications, which prevent blood clots will also make any bleeding difficult to stop. Blood clots are the body's first responders when an injury (such as a cut in the gums) occurs.

Your cardiologist may not want you to have surgury so soon after the heart attack. On the other hand, your cardiologist should know best if you have made a complete recovery enough to be fine with the surgury.
Reply:Can you take them where??
Reply:Ask your doctor, not Yahoo answers!!!
Reply:It wont be a problem, but do make sure you take your consent letter, that way your dentist will know what kind of anesthetic to use and medications to prescribe. He may choose one that contains no epinephrene (that will cause your heart to race) he would want to do that. Good Luck, but do have them extracted, if not they can cause infection, and thats not good for your body or heart
Reply:teeths r not related with heart u may have remedy for that but also consult ur cardio
Reply:Sounds like you have already got the situation under control. Thanks for the info.

Since we do not know what actually happened to your heart or what medications you are taking, we can not possibly answer this question here.

Your dentist and cardiologist will work things out together.

Do broken capillaries heal on their own?

I just hit the area under my bottom lip on a table and my skin impacted against my bottom teeth, now I have these broken capillaries under my lip. Will these go away?? How long will it take? Please help, I'm very worried!!

Do broken capillaries heal on their own?
they will heal on they're own. it should be gone in a few days.
Reply:Don't worry. Capillaries are too tiny of blood vessels to fret about. They will repair themselves before you know it. I bet in a week it will be back to normal.

I work as a waitress am unemployed no insurance. My front tooth broke in half. What to do now ?

I went to a clinic that was on a sliding fee seemed great in the beginning exrays exam ect. The my first visit was a month away and it was not to fix my broken tooth. They pulled a tooth I am sure could have been saved. When I left the appointment The computer was down and I have heard nothing since. I am not complaining about this as I do not want this kind of dentistry. I want my teeth. The dentist was unprofessional and quit mean. No insurance means no saving your teeth he said. I am resourced out and its getting worse . My sister and I had a cleaning business we worked for two years and at the same time I broke my tooth she lost her car so we now are out our business we worked at so hard and put all resources into for the last two years. I feel in dire straights with my life . Please help me with giving me some advise on what you would do . Thanks

I work as a waitress am unemployed no insurance. My front tooth broke in half. What to do now ?
Look up the dental licensing board for your state and see if there is a contact number. Sometimes dentists, doctors and others do pro-bono work (free) for people in your situation. What that dentist said to you was horrible. It sucks to not have insurance in America, you are just really screwed when something happens.

As a last resort, I'd write to some of those talk shows that do shows featuring dental work/makeovers because if they decide to feature you, you get the work for free. See if a regular dentist can offer you a financing plan. Don't let it go, your teeth will only get worse and then what?

Good luck, I feel for your situation, I've been there.
Reply:Get a loan from family or friends .
Reply:Usually dental schools in your area will do low cost or free dental work so the upcoming dental doctors can learn their trade. Find a university near you that has a dental school and see what the cost is to you. I have done it here in NYC and when I didn't have insurance it really saved my life!! The students are monitored by professors and they do almost any kind of work. Check it out and good luck to you!!
Reply:Look into your local county indigent health care program, you may qualify for government assistance for your medical care.

Find out if there is a free clinic in your area associated with a medical school or large academic medical center, it might provide you a gateway to treatment.
Reply:Girl,,,,,,,,,,, I think what everyone needs to give you is NOT AND ANSWER but Prayer....Goodness Grief!!!!

Talking about bad luck!!!

See if you can go to your local S.Services and ask if they can give you government assistance. I know a friend that has a waitress job and she went to apply, and they helped her..

Good Luck!!!!

oh yeah if not don't worry about it...Trust me my front tooth is chipped also and I told everyone that i was gonna get it fixed, and they where like why? You look cute like that...lol..(I'm still getting fixed because I need braces. My dentist said sooo)
Reply:I didn't have insurance for about 9 years and all of my teeth ended up with cavities and about 10 broke. There was really nothing I could do. I went to a dental college which is much cheaper than a private dentist and it was still going to be about $500-900 each for the root canals and crowns I needed. A dental implant isn't covered by insurance anyway and that's about $1000. My only option was to have 6 teeth pulled so that the pain would stop because I was popping Vicodin constantly because they hurt so bad. The Vicodin didn't even work and I had to illegally buy some Oxycontin to kill the pain of the exposed nerves. It cost about $90 per tooth for the extractions at the dental college I went to.

If you can't get Medicaid then you have to pay or go to one of those sliding scale places (not all are bad). I was finally able to find insurance which is similar to Medicaid but for people who are not quite eligible for Medicaid. It's something they offer here in NY and it's called HealthPlus. They cover most of my dental bills 100% now so I can get the root canals. You need to find out if there is something like that where you live. It would be the insurance for 'poor' people who are not quite 'poor enough' for Medicaid. The down side is that it takes at least 90 days to be approved and it's a long time to wait if you have tooth pain.

I am 'unemployed' on paper and the money I make off the books is no where near enough to pay for trips to the dentist (I can barely pay rent). I was only ineligible for Medicaid because I have a lease in my name yet no way to 'prove' how I pay rent. I could not get anyone to write a letter for me saying that they support me financially so I was denied Medicaid because it looked like fraud or something.
Reply:well, if it cannot be bonded, then they would want to crown it. you can get a targis crown, which is a little cheaper than porcelain over gold. but, there is something called a Maryland bridge which is only $200 here. it is probably a lot more in the states. my best suggestion is if you live near mexico, go there. but, still avoid toxic materials like porcelain over metal (the metal is nickel, which is cancer causing).

For non-biting teeth (teeth in or near the front, the dentist can usually use what is called a Maryland bridge, provided the adjacent teeth are in good shape and do not have crowns. This bridge is fixed, but does not require teeth to be ground and crowned.

I have really bad rotten teeth and they're falling apart really bad. Anybody else ever have this?

When I was almost 3 I had to have all my teeth pulled out cuz they were so rotten. I don't remember that, but I do remeber I had no teeth til I was in 3rd grade. When my adult teeth came in they were already rotten. I don't have any enamel on my teeth and they were never very white. They're more a sort of a brownish yellow, with dark brown places and holes in them. Pieces break off a lot and I had to have a lot of my back teeth pulled out already. What I have left is falling apart. I want to just have them all pulled out, but the dentist I went to said he wouldn't do it cuz I'm only 12 and they can be saved but it will cost a lot. I'd rather go toothless like before than be stuck with ugly teeth that are always breaking, or sit thru alot of work. Besides my mom said it will cost almost as much as our house and we can't afford it. My mom had all her teeth pulled out and she got fake teeth when she was in high school. I'd rather do that too, or just stay toothless like I was before.

I have really bad rotten teeth and they're falling apart really bad. Anybody else ever have this?
I would imagine that having your teeth pulled out is about the only option along with replacing them with false teeth. The thing is that at your age your mouth is still growing which is probably one of the reasons your dentist is reluctant to do anything now. When the time comes you don't have to make the most expensive choices . You can get false teeth at a reasonable price and they last a long time.I can only imagine how you must be feeling with such a dilemma. As hard as it is, try and be patient , the time will come when something can be done. In the meantime ..... I'll wish for you the biggest most beautiful smiles : ) take care k
Reply:No, don't do it. If you have lots of money, veneers are the way to go. But if you don't, don't consider transplants.

Don't have no teeth, that's such a turn off and worse than rotting teeth.
Reply:i added your question to my watch list because i am truly curious as to the cause of your problem and how you will handle it.

i am far older than you are and still have most of my teeth. my top teeth look very nice and straight, but because a dummy dentist pulled a bicuspid when i was a little girl and never put a bridge there (bottom), my bottom teeth came in crooked. they are gradually pulling apart. sometimes one will become abcessed and so painful i need to go to the emergency room--that pain can make you literally scream every time you move your mouth! i am certain that (since i never had an abcess up on the top teeth) this too is a result of never getting a bridge! if the teeth pull apart unnaturally, then germs can get into the gums a lot easier, so i think.

my goal is to keep my teeth. i know others that had all their teeth pulled because of some of the same problems that i have. but i do not need to have them pulled and will not: my friends that did get into pain from their dentures. when they take them out, their mouths pucker inward. some of my friends would rather wear chadors than let anyone see that they do not have natural teeth! they have pain chewing.

i hope you can, perhaps, get to a university-based dental clinic to get the work done. i really and truly suggest that you keep your natural teeth. a dentist would not say he refuses to pull them if he did not think that fixing them will be better for you in the future. you might also wish to speak to a therapist/psychologist about how you feel about yourself with this problem. it must be hard on you.

good luck!
Reply:i have never heard of this happening to children.i cant believe it.what caused this for you and your mom?i wish you luck.you can find a dentist that will take partial paymentsw also.
Reply:I am so sorry you have to go through this. I hope the best for you and keep your head up

My 5 year old fell and broke his 4 front teeth, had to have them pulled when will his grown up teeth come in?

Yes, they will come in normally. When my niece fell of the monkey bars at a park, she knocked out her two front teeth. (She was 5 at the time) She is now eight and she looks comletely normal. The teeth didn't come in any differently then they would have if she had lost them naturally.

My 5 year old fell and broke his 4 front teeth, had to have them pulled when will his grown up teeth come in?
don't have them pulled out because it will remove the path of the permanent teeth during its erruption stage. in about a year your child will be getting his permanent teeth.
Reply:His teeth will arrive normally, time wise. However because of the trauma, his teeth wont follow their normal placement. He will either look like a retarded beaver or it will look like he could eat an apple through a tennis racket. $5,000 braces should take care of that. Sorry, you cant buy used braces
Reply:No fear, my little one is 5 1/2 and has no front teeth either. He has no permanent damage and the dentist said they will grow back in at the normal time (usually around age 6-7) He hasn't had any front teeth for close to 3 years now (he's a bruiser and lost 2 falling down the stairs and 1 he knocked out while riding his scooter)
Reply:Okay, usually children lose their anterior (front) teeth around the age of 6 or 7. The posterior teeth usually come out around 10. I assume it's the front teeth that are removed, so within the next 1 to 2 years they'll be growing back. It's fine. My younger sister had bottle rot, her teeth came back around the age of 6. Just make sure he is still able to eat fine.
Reply:his teeth would have fallen out around age 7 and new ones would then begin to grow in, it is not that premature so I would not worry too much about it-

As for them growing in all "retarded" this is not necessarily true, there may be no damage done or any difference. And if he does need braces in the future, he may have ended up needing them anyway-

Your son will be just fine.

What are my options with my teeth causing so much pain?

Ok this is my deal my upper molars were pulled when I was younger and now the wisdom teeth have come into the spot the molars were. Both wisdom teeth are now cracked and broken and hurt badly. On top of that I have a huge cavity in another tooth and basically the pain can shoot all over the top of my mouth. Once one area stops the next will pick up. I have no dental insurance and desperately need this taken care of as I cant stand the pain this is causing anymore... Please Help!!!

What are my options with my teeth causing so much pain?
You need to address these problems and most likely have extractions (teeth out) if they are as damaged as you say. Find a local dental school that you can be treated at, or a dental clinic that charges you based on your income (sliding scale). Or try to get Care Credit, look on the American Dental Association site for info.

Hope that helps

Reply:The only treatment is to have your wisdom teeth removed through surgery. Only ever go to an oral %26amp; maxillofacial surgeon to have your wisdom teeth out. To find out more go to http://www.oceansurgical.com.au/postoper...
Reply:EXTRACT THE PAINFUL/CRACKED ONES AND LOOK INTO POSSIBLE PARTIAL/FULL DENTURES.
