Teeth bonding for 16 mo old?

My 16 mo old daughter fell and hit her face on the kitchen floor, breaking off her two front teeth. One is chipped on the corner, the other has the bottom part gone. The dentist said he could bond them and they would look new. He said we could do this whenever. Should I do it now or wait until she's a little older? There are no nerves exposed, and she is perfectly fine eating, talking, etc. I don't think she would sit still right now, she cried when we walked in the office. It makes my heart sink to see her smile and have chipped teeth. Has anyone experienced anything like this?

Well she will loose them eventually but it's going to be a very long time before she does. My daughter is going on 7 and still hasn't lost a tooth. If I was you I would bond the teeth because a lot of little kids are going to bug her about it when she starts school and she may feel insecure about it. Looks do matter even to small children. No matter how many times you tell her she is beautiful it won't matter.

They will give her something to calm her down before they do the procedure but make sure you find someone that has experience with children her age.

Good Luck on whatever you decide. But you should do what your heart tells you to do not what other people tell you to!!!
Reply:well if there baby teeth, won't new ones grow? cause you get the baby teeth and the adult teeth.
Reply:they will wear down or possibly rot, i would bond them
Reply:If she's not in pain, don't make her sit through it. She's going to lose those teeth anyway.

She's still your pretty little girl.
Reply:take her to another dentist, get a second opinion.

I do know that altering, or pulling baby teeth can effect the way that your daughters adult teeth will come in.

please take her to another dentist.

or if you think that she is fine, no pain and eating well, I would just leave it alone. sounds like just a waste of money and why put your child through that. insurance will prob. not pay for it anyway, bonding is cosmetic
Reply:why do that when she will just lose those teeth n a few years thats alot of unnessary pain
Reply:Yes, I did, My daughter was older, she was 4. She had cracked her tooth when she was 3 1/2 I was going to wait until she just lost her tooth and got her new tooth but it started decaying. So we went to the dentist, she was nervous for the first visit but he was really nice. The final visit where they fixed her tooth was a nightmare, she was so scared and screaming. The doctor even snapped at her. I was in tears. That night I made her a peanut butter sandwich and the "new" piece of tooth the Dentist put on came off!! I called back the next day and was told we could have it reapplied. I asked what would happen if it wasn't reapplied and they said she would be fine without it, the tooth had been sealed off so no infection would occur, the decay was grinded away and sealant put on so she didnt HAVE to have the fake part reapplied. Thats what we did. Just let her have her cute little goofy tooth. Now I know they could have done all that without having to pay the extra money for the fake part to be placed on.
Reply:I don't think I would worry so much about the one that the bottom is missing, just keep an eye on it to make sure it doesn't start to rot or bother her. The chipped one, could the dentist maybe grind it down a little if it's sharp, make it even with the other one maybe. She will have these teeth for a few more years before she will lose them for her adult teeth. I don't know if I would bother to have them bonded if it's going to cost quite a bit and to make her sit so long for the 2 to be done.

I'm sure she is still a cutie even with the busted teeth.
Reply:If these are her adult teeth have them fixed

if baby teeth well just call her snuggle tooth till they fall out
Reply:My two year old is missing 3 teeth because of the same thing. He was running and fell on the coffee table. At first it just loosened them then the dentist told me that they would tighten back up. Now they are gone. I would have them bonded. They can put her to sleep and do the work. This would make you feel better and deter the questions by others wondering what happened to your baby. If I had the chance I would do it.
