I found possibly rare shark teeth, what did they come from?

I found these theeth at Myrtle Beach and I haven't been able to find what shark they came from. They are about an inch long, but they're broken and i don't know how long they are when they're full. They are shaped like a saw with smaller teeth coming off on both sides of the spear-like centre shaft.

I found possibly rare shark teeth, what did they come from?
I don't know where Myrtle Beach is, but it sounds like what you've found is the saw part of a Sawfish. Here's a pic. of one.

I didn't give all the thumbs down, btw! They were there when I arrived.
Reply:This is actually a penis bone from a deep-sea cochlid.
Reply:take it to your local museum or contact the smithsonian (sorry dont know if i spelt that right) in DC they usually can tell a lot more then just googling can :)
Reply:I would take them to a local aquarium. I'm sure someone there would know right away what they were
Reply:post a picture. That way somebody can see what it looks like.
Reply:Well, it could be from some kind of fish too. Remember there are things out there other than sharks that have teeth. I wouldn't know though, maybe if you included a picture with it....Do some research on what type of sharks are most common in that area, and other species of fish with teeth.
Reply:Shark teeth are frequently found along beaches and some are as long as your hand. Myrthle Beach is a common hunting ground for fossil shark teeth. This may be what you found, if it seems to be made of rock.
Reply:just search "shark teeth photos". you should be able to find your answer that way
Reply:Post a picture but believe it or not, finding shark teeth is not that unusual and they are probably far from rare. I have found several on beaches over the years.

I have cracked my front teeth, what should I do?

I have slightly cracked my front teeth, central incisors, but the cracks are not visible untill I shed light on therm with flashlight! and the crack is from the gumline half way to the bottem, but as I said not visible or sharp and nothiing is broken. what should I do?

I have cracked my front teeth, what should I do?
KEVIN,

THESE ARE CALLED CRAZE LINES. THEY ARE MICROSCOPIC FRACTURES IN THE ENAMEL ON THE FRONT PART OF THE TOOTH. THEY ARE SO THIN THAT THEY CAN ONLY BE SEEN BY SHINING A STRONG LIGHT ON THEM AT A CERTAIN ANGLE.

I'VE HAD MINE FOR YEARS W/O ANY PROBLEMS. ONLY I KNOW ABOUT THEM.

WHAT DO I PLAN TO DO? NOTHING!
Reply:see a dentist, they can give you crowns
Reply:Try some clear see-through crazy glue or that paste that is white in color.
Reply:See your dentist for the best care/advice. If they can't help you, they'll refer you to someone who can.
Reply:get rid of the torch n no one will notice
Reply:See a dentist as soon as possible to find out if they will turn grey from nerve damage. I bit a fork about 15 years ago eating waffles in a hurry and thought I had broken one of my bottom incisors - it popped forward out of line. "Fortunately", I had broken the supporting bone in front and not the tooth. My dentist put cement in the back of my bottom front teeth for about 4 weeks and the bone grew back; the tooth would not, of course, heal itself. It's fine now. Good Luck!
Reply:maybe see a dentist just to be on the safe side
Reply:See your dentist. You will probably need crowns. The cracks will allow bacteria into the tooth causing decay. Eventually, it will reach a nerve and then you'll be in trouble. It will hurt like nothing else. And you'll need a root canal.
Reply:#1 Get a dental plan (below) if you don't have one already.

Choose one with no waiting periods.

#2 Visit a dentist ASAP.
Reply:This sounds exactly like my central incisor that I cracked on a swimming pool in about 1960. Don't worry about it. Mine never needed any treatment and yours probably doesn't either.

What causes the teeth on my HD starter to break?

On mine it was because I have a big inch motor. On some it can be because the pinion gear does not engage the gear on the clutch basket well.

This can be caused by the spring behind the pinion gear being weak or by worn teeth.

Compufire makes a starter gear set, with a slightly different ratio, with both the basket and pinion gears that works great ,the basket gear is installed on your clutch basket rather than replacing the whole shell.

I ate up a few sets of stock gears before, but the compufire has held up for years.

J+P has that gear set and replace the spring behind the pinion.

What causes the teeth on my HD starter to break?
Are you talking about the teeth on the starter drive gear? Could be the gear was not hardened properly. Has this happened more than once? If not just replace the gear and it should work fine. Also, check the teeth on the gear ring that the drive gear engages. They may be screwed up also.
Reply:Try using shims. The gears are probably bottoming out.
Reply:is it the teeth on the gear that engage's the ring gear on the clutch basket or the little teeth on the shaft that gos back into the starter like on a high torque gear reduction starter?

you need to shim to get full engagement without the 1 way sprague touching the ring gear. on an early model with the solenoid facing forward you may have a bent yoke.

if you've got a 100'' with high compression you need compression release's. if not move the starter drive by hand (disconnect the battery wire first)to see how much engagement you are getting %26amp; shim accordingly before you put the primary cover back on. %26amp; dont forget to check the teeth on your ring gear, you may need a new one.
Reply:starter is missaligned

Always dream about my teeth and jaw?

i always dream that my teeth are either loose or falling out and at the same time my jaw goes all weird, it feels like it is broken or dislocated, during these dream i am in terrible pain, but the pain doesn't wake me up. Sometimes i go for weeks without having these dreams then when i do have them they happen every night for about four days I don't think anybody is supposed to be in pain while they are dreaming. It gets so bad that i sometimes dread going to sleep, please help. Thx

Always dream about my teeth and jaw?
It may be your body trying to tell you something.I had something similar myself and this was down to me grinding my teeth when I slept. The dentist began noticing the effects on my teeth before I realised what I was doing and said it could have been brought on by stress (I later found out it was exaggerated if I had been drinking). The dentist gave me a mouth guard to use at night. Try and find out if this is the problem before it has any conseqeunces because it can really do damage to teeth and gums.
Reply:I have a horrible recurring dream that is so realistic about all my teeth falling out. It feels so real, every time I have it I think to myself while I'm dreaming "Oh, no, it's for real this time!" So I looked it up in a dream book and it says teeth dreams are manifestations of stress and/or could be from grinding your teeth while sleeping. I've been trying to deal with my stress levels and the dream hasn't happened for a couple months!
Reply:Its funny because I learned in my class that these are common dreams for EVERYONE. This particular drem plays on insecurities...whatever they may be. I too have these dreams. The best way to address it is to deal better with your major insecurities.
Reply:Hi there,

The two people who have already answered before me are correct in saying this may have something to do with a physical problem you have. Id suggest you speak to your dentist reguarding the pain and see what he/she says to this.

If in your actual dreaming state you dream of your jaw feeling tight and inpain (this isnt a physical pain but a dream pain) this indicates that you have unexpressed angers and other powerful feelings which you are holding back. Either from yourself or from others. Also if you see your mouth in your dream (not just your teeth) this signifies your need to express yourself or talk about an issue that's bothering you.

Teeth reflect your anxiety about your appearance and how others perceive you. Sadly, we live in a world where good looks are valued highly and your teeth play an important role in giving this image. If you occassionally worry about your looks and how others see you this dream would highly suit you, and for this very reason. Theres also the point that you maybe feeling embarrassed or have the fear of making a fool of yourself in some specific situation. In this case your teeth dreams are to do with your worries and anxiety.

As you have mentioned that you've had these dreams before these dreams (including the pain) are classed as reoccurring dreams. Most dreams contain messages for us and by dreaming its our unconsious mind trying to show and teach us something about ourselves. With recurring dreams, the message may be so important and/or powerful that it just will not go away. The frequent repetition of such dreams forces you to pay attention and confront the dream. The dream is trying desperately to tell you something. Such dreams are often nightmarish or frightening in their content, which also helps you to take notice and pay attention to them. Which can also leave you waking up in a sweat, feeling afraid and also in pain in certain areas.
Reply:Maybbe you grind your teeth while your asleep. I did that while i was asleep. It reallly cann hurt. Ask your docter.

Reply:Dreaming about teeth falling out is generally a sign of stress. I often dream my teeth are falling out when I am stressed out. When you are feeling tense, try writing down everything that is winding you up before you go to sleep.I may relieve the feelings enough to get a decent nights sleep.

Good Luck.

Broken Zipper HELP!!!!!!!?

On my pauls boutique bag it has a metal teeth zipper. it is quite thick but it doesnt actually close when you move it along, it just goes through and stays open. i think it might be not tight enough or something cos it only works for the first centimetre of it so i think it is not properly broken. it is all together but not working HELP!!! X

Broken Zipper HELP!!!!!!!?
This is hard to tell without actually seeing it but it sounds as though it should be replaced. Do you mean that you close it and it opens while you zip it? If so, it needs replacing. Take it to a repair shop or a seamstress. They'll be able to tell you exactly what is wrong. As far as I know, there is no way to fix it.

If it is new, I'd take it back to the store. You might also try writing the manufacturer--it could be the batch of zippers they bought are all defective and might even be subject to a recall.
Reply:a lot of people will put wax on it, my parent use to put candle wax on it. they rub the candle over it and it seen to work!
Reply:you can go to the alteration and let them fix it for you :/

I got my wisdom teeth removed......?

i just got my wisdom teeth removed about 4 hours ago and it hurts like hell! my face has swelled up to the size of like a watermelon.it feels like my jaw is broken and i cant even speak a word. how long till the swelling goes away? how long until it heals? how long until the pain goes away? should i call my dentist if it still hurts tomorrow? i really want to eat but i cant even close or open my mouth. i cant drink anything without it coming out of my mouth. what do i do?

I got my wisdom teeth removed......?
Relax. Just take those pain meds they gave you. And try to sleep. Best thing for the first day. Mine were not that deep so I was good to go the next day. I went to work 2 days after they took them out. Felt great...looked like a chipmunk though. lol. You will not be able to open you mouth all the way for a week! Just keep opening it as much as you can a couple times a day....when the pain stops that is. ICE use ice...it will bring down the swelling and helps the pain to go away in that area. Just make sure that you change the stuff they put in your mouth and don't spit; it will open the cuts and the bleeding will start again. Speaking of which, don't drink the blood and the yellow stuff. It will make you sick. But all that sounds like how I felt after four hours. Not a fun time, but it will pass. Good luck.
Reply:Eat cold stufff
Reply:Take the pain pills they should have given you and you should be fine by Monday morning. You may still have a dull ache then but you will be fine by Monday.
Reply:Did they give you any drugs for pain? If not, call them right now and get something that will pretty much just make you want to sleep for a couple days-- being unconscious is much better than being miserable.
Reply:For now use pain killers and it should be better by tomorrow
Reply:you should take a pain killer and try to go to sleep thats what i did when I got four teeth pulled i know it isn't the same but my friend got hers removed and she did the same thing but it hurt her for alomost 2 weeks.
Reply:you will feel it for a few days. Whatever you do don't drink out of a straw...you can dislodge the clots and form dry sockets...if you think you are in pain now a dry socket will be the end of you
Reply:you did not say if you had stitches or not. you should have mild to moderate pain after extractions and the dds should have given you pain meds. cold drinks and soft foods like icecream, yogurt, eggs, soup...not hot!!!!! if you have no stitches anything hot could dislove the blood clot, also no smoking or drinking through a straw, no persing your lips. the clot forms on the top of the site and needs to heal. you will be fine. rest and all the cold drinks will help you. good luck to you
Reply:You should call your dentist did they give you any discharge instructions? Did they give you anything for pain? I know when my sister-in laws jaw was broken she use to get baby food (fruit) and drink it through a straw, but that would probably hurt you too. Hope you feel better but you need to call the dentist
Reply:1] take a pain killer every 8 hours for the next two days. If the doc didn't give you one, call him and take a motrin while you are waiting.Tell him how big your face is - like, cheeks wider than

your forehead?

2] wrap some frozen veggies on a ziploc bag, cover with a paper towel, and ice your face! 20 minutes on, 20 minutes off, for the next two days.

3] Don't use a straw! Use a teaspoon to eat tiny amounts of liquids or soft solids - ice cream, pudding, mashed potatoes,

pureed veg or meat [ nothing with chunks ].

P.S. my face did the same thing - I couldn't even get a shirt over my head, and looked like I had been in a terrible car accident. I lost ten pounds in two weeks.

Is a girl better at making things up as an evil plot?

I just got a call from his ex this weekend that he tells me hes been tryin to get rid of her every now n then. She said if i think I'm his only gf im wrong becuase he's been dating her all this time as well. I was so heart broken but somehow i still sort of trust that my bf n it's some evil plan of hers to try to break us apart. She tells me he's mentally ill for bringing us both out as girlfriends to all his family, friends, coworkers and how can these ppl not say anything n what they must think of us. I wonder can everyone around him really be that nuts and not think anything of it? I don't know I'm still hurt and confused although my bf said give him time because this is good, he can finally get rid of her after doing this.

Is a guy better at lying through his teeth OR Is a girl better at making things up as an evil plot?
Guys lies are bigger. Women lie more often.
Reply:It really depends on the person.
Reply:She is lying i think. Someone else would have told you definately!
Reply:Girls always get away things before the guy catch on!!
Reply:shake spear====hell has no fury like a woman scorned. trust your instincts.thats the best advice i can give.
Reply:It sounds to me like she is telling the truth as he said, he can finally get rid of her, means he hasn't before he got caught.

I would not have anything to do with either of them, sounds like a real soap opera. Leave that for TV, run the other way and do not look back.
Reply:I would back off for a couple of days.

Then check which is crazy.

If both are, hang up and try again.

If she is and he is cool, try again.

But you really don't want to get in the crazy *****, stupid guy set.

i ate the hard bit of a baguette.. and the band on the right (that metal strip) has bent towards my teeth and like half of it went in my gums

The band at the end of my teeth (i have braces) has bent and some went in my gum after eating a baguette?
I have nocked of 2 brackets. All they do is fix it. It won't delay in time to take of or anything. Don't worry. They'll fix it an dyou will be fine and your braces will come off on schadual and you'll have a baeutiful smile. Hopfully. Good luck and have a nice day!
Reply:They will fix it and you will be fine. The same thing happend to me when I had braces.
Reply:I think you are talking about the wire- It happened to me a few times as well. When it happened, I would just tuck it under the bottom part of the braces that attaches to your tooth. That keeps it from jutting out and scraping against your gum.

*And no, you won't have to wait an extra year to get your braces off. You teeth don't shift too much over that period of time

Do puppies lose all their baby teeth, including their canines?

My 4 month old chocolate lab puppy "Reesee" lost a canine today and her gums are swollen and I found drops of blood on the floor but no tooth. I always thought puppies lost all their baby teeth except for their canines. She bites on her leash when being walked so I'm worried that she may have accidentally broken it off.

Do puppies lose all their baby teeth, including their canines?
Yes, they lose all their teeth, including canines (thank God, nothing is sharper than puppy canines!!). Then as the adult teeth start to come in so will their big boy/girl molars... that is when the FUN teething starts :)

You may want to soak hand towels in water, roll them up, and then freeze them. These make great teething aids. Reesee can suck and chomp away... feels good on their sore gums. Just be sure to always be around when she is chewing the towel. When it starts to get soggy, wet it again and freeze it.

Good luck with miss Reesee!!

P.S. Chocolate is my favorite favor, hehe, I have a "chocolate" Newfoundland
Reply:She'll lose them all, they swallow some of the teeth so you won't see many just lying around. Her gums are going to be sore while she is cutting her adult teeth, nothing to be concerned about. Just make sure you give her lots of chew toys to soothe the discomfort.
Reply:Pups tend to lose all their "milk teeth" at five or six months old. Most will simply swallow them or lose them inside of a stuffed toy (I had a pup that wold spit them out in my hand). You pup may have either lost hers naturally, or if no second tooth is present, maybe a little prematurely. Either way, a brand new adult dog tooth will be appearing soon and she will be fine.

Pups lose all of their milk teeth including canines.

Hope this helps!
Reply:yes they loose all their teeth
Reply:Shes fine ,dogs do that. Try to buy some chew toys for her to gnaw on so the itch in her gums will stop. Also toy puppies will not be able to chew their way through a whole lot of surfaces, but they can chew at irreplaceable furniture and moldings enough to do quite a bit of damage. Be sure to puppy-proof your home before the curious, mischievous and “teething” toy puppy arrives.

Electrical cords and wires are especially hazardous to teething toy puppies. They need to be out of reach or taped to walls. A puppy could electrocute himself while happily chewing away on an electrical cord. Regularly look for dropped pens, pencils, rubber bands, paper clips, and children’s small toys on your floor. Teething puppies can be very mouthy, chewing on everything they can latch onto. Nylabones and other chew toys are an absolute must for your new teething toy puppy.
Reply:Yes, they do. Also, puppies usaully swallow all of their teeth. This does not hurt , and it is not bad for them.

My dentist says i need to get my jaw broken, should i?

my chin goes in instead of out, and it needs to go out, and when i bite my teeth dont go over the bottom ones. when i get my jaw broken will it affect this? and how long will i need to recover?

My dentist says i need to get my jaw broken, should i?
Talk it over with your dentist. You will probably be under the care of a maxillo-facial surgeon who specialise in facial reconstruction.

Your jaw will not be broken as such but it will be cut in strategic places and the parts brought together. Extra bone may be used to fill any gaps. They will harvest this from you.

It is not without its complications and you will need a full general anaesthetic. It will be sore afterwards and you may look different to before.

By talking it through with your dentist and surgeon, and possibly a counsellor, you will determine if you are ready for the surgery.

They will also be able to talk you through the whole procedure, with photos if you are not too squeamish.
Reply:yes, my uncle had it done, it is a great improvement...but only if you want to
Reply:Sounds like the thing to do.
Reply:Sounds like it's a good idea, but instead of just saying okay and getting it done, you should have a talk with your dentist to make sure you understand everything, like how the procedure works and recovery time. Also note that if you end up getting the procedure done, your face structure may change a bit (your chin area I mean), which may be a good or bad thing. Good luck :)
Reply:Yes do it, your life will be better, 6 weeks recovery but pain not so much. my friend is so happy she had it done. It will affect your life in such a positive way in your adulthood.
Reply:It is a big treatment but the results are amazing!

You won't regret it!
Reply:Depends if he does it with anaesthetic or not!!!!

Have you had many volunteers for doing the job?
Reply:I had my jaw broken by a dentist when he was trying to pull a tooth out. I had to go to hospital to have my jaw wired. And he wasn't even trying !
Reply:I think you need to seek out a better dentist. What a quack! Your problem usually is taken care of with proper orthodonture procedures such as splints, braces, those less invasive procedures.

Breaking a jaw is a radical and insane measure to fix a problem such as yours. Please...find another dentist, this person should have his license revoked.
Reply:I would get a second and third opion. Depending on your case you might be able to correct this with orthodontic. As a last and only last resort would I ever do the break the jaw gig
Reply:This is a radical procedure. It requires having your jaw wired shut for about 6 weeks. I would seek a 2nd or 3rd opinion and discuss other options with all dentists.
Reply:that's wrong you just need your bite fixed so that your teeth sit right in your mouth they just file down them our brace them if bent for few months our more
Reply:What you have is known as an overbite - it occurs as a result of under-development of the lower jaw. Yes by breaking the jaw they can set it more forward, thus reducing your overbite. I'm not sure how long it will take, but it will involve the fitting of braces. This is because after the jaw is broken an elastic will be fitted to the lower and upper braces (to prevent the jaw moving back) for some time whilst the jaw is healing into its new position. If you are young then I suggest you have it done as mis-aligned teeth can sometime cause problems later in life. Not always though.
Reply:As a practitioner myself it is sometimes necessary to break the jaw bone surgically in order to reform the layout of you teeth

Cat grinding her teeth?

I have a cat that was born approximately the start of January. She suddenly, tonight i noticed started making this noise like crunching broken peices of hard plastic! Grinding is the best way it could be described. I immediately grabbed her and ran my hand over her throat to feel for any foreign objects, and i also looked in her mouth.... but there was nothing there and the grinding noise continues constantly, so i'm starting to think it's her teeth. She has the same appetite/thirst, doesn't have worms, is in good health as of her checkup about a week ago... what could be wrong... =(

Cat grinding her teeth?
Cats can only move their jaw up and down, but not sideways, so tecnically, they cannot "grind" their teeth. Get a second opinion on your cat's condition from another vet. Maybe she'll need x-rays.

I hope everything turns out OK!!
Reply:Mine did the same and when I took her to the vets they said that she had a very small piece of grass seed stuck between her teeth and she was just trying to get it out, the vet also said teeth grinding can just become a habit is some cats or they might have a tooth problem. My best advice to you is take her to the vets just to be sure, that way you can have peace of mind.

Broken jaw?

my boyfriend got his jaw broken in an assault. its the lower jaw and it looks like half of his lower teeth are up and the other half are down. he's having surgery. i just wanted to kno if he will have to get his jaw wired shut? and if so, how long? will it have to be wired shut with braces?

Broken jaw?
yes he will have to wear braces until his jaw is aligned again. But not necessariy the wired ones, He can opt for transparent braces too. Hope ur bf recovers fast.

Answer mine pls.

http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index;...
Reply:Yes, it'll be a long process with wiring his jaw shut and all. I'd go ahead and dump him now.
Reply:yes. My mother had to have it wired shut after surgery. As I recall they did use braces to hold the wires up. Good luck. Good news is he will lose alot of weight.
Reply:the jaw wll be wired closed just enough open to fit a straw through to eat liquidised foods, and held together with elastic bands, it can be on for 4-6 weeks depending on how the jaw lines up and how it looks on x-ray
Reply:When I had my jaw broken the first time i had a steel plate inserted into my jaw. He might get that depending how severe it is. it's not as bad as getting it wired shut but there's a better chance of it not healing properly.

Suicidal victim of violence with pain specialist needs help. Broken jaw severe nerve trauma?

I am a white male who was out taking a walk by myself on Christmas Day. A black gang robbed me for some crack money, while they grinded my face into the pavement with their feet. A fourth black male who was not even involved in the crime who watched it happen from accross the street followed me inside a pizza parlor and broke my jaw just for kicks. I have had three surgeries on the left mandible. The pain is so severe that I think about suicide almost all the time. The question is only how I will do it. The last surgery was unneccessary and did the most damage. I live near the Golden Gate Bridge in San Francisco so it's a no brainer since it's the capital of suicides jumps in the world. I would maybe overdose on heroin because I can't look down, but I don't know how to cook it or inject it and I have to be careful with the laws. If you ever get a broken jaw NEVER let the doctor drill a metal plate on. Wiring the teeth is good enough! You'll thank me for it.

Suicidal victim of violence with pain specialist needs help. Broken jaw severe nerve trauma?
My friend you need help. Suicide is not the answer, it is the cowards way out. I live with chronic pain every day for the past 10 years. There is a new drug on the market called CYmbalta. It is an antidepressant but it has been approved by the FDA for chronic pain. I have been taking it for a little over a month now and it has been a blessing!! My legs always felt like they were made of cement. Now I can walk without pain. Please, promise you will talk to your doctor about it. Also let he or she know about your suicidal thoughts. There is help out there. You were a victim, don't become a statistic.
Reply:First of all I would like to say I'm so sorry to hear about what happened to you. I hope they caught the b.a.s.t.a.r.d.s. that did this to you and may they get raped over and over again in jail!!!!!

I understand your pain but you can't give up look how far you've already come. my husband lives with pain from a car accident and his pain will never go away, he has 3 permament pinched nerves in his neck, and elbow, a constant headache that never goes away and brain damage, he fights his pain everyday and no medicines will work and the doctors don't want to give him narcotics which would help the pain a bit. You just have to keep going your life is worth living!
Reply:I'm sorry, but what's the question here?
Reply:You should go to another doctor to fix your problem. The first doctor obviosuly did not do a proper job if you are still in pain. Aside from that, you should be seeing a psycotherapist to treat you with medication, or maybe even go to a special center to get better. The biggest step is realising you may be suicidal, now you need to find help to stop any action that you may inflict on yourself. By the way, why do you feel it was necessary to describe what race the men who beat you were? It's completely irrellevant.
Reply:I am sorry for all the pain you have been through. I think you should go to counseling. Also talk to a lawyer. Good Luck to you.
Reply:Can't the doctor prescribe vicadin or morphine.
Reply:Yeah Mompoo, a lawyer. When it's a bunch of thug *****rs that jumped him? You stupid twunt.

Yes, you should just jump off the bridge. Really, you're a piece of crap and nobody will miss you. Hell, you're probably on some sort of government healthcare program anyways and burdening us taxpayers with the bills. If you're by yourself on Christmas, nobody loves you and you should kill yourself.
Reply:smoke a big fatty.. it's a great reliever for chronic pain.. and then you'll be too lazy to want to go jumping off any bridges
Reply:I also had a traumatic experience which led to thoughts of injecting Heroin but I never did it before. I've had multiple episodes of serious suicidal thoughts %26amp; 1 suicide attempt, 5 big Samoan security guards stopped me because they caught me on security camera, I was on the top floor of a hotel. I was first diagnosed w/depression, then later w/ bipolar disorder, (which I later learned is very common.) My cousin killed himself last year, he was only 47, I know of several others who have succeeded in taking their own lives. I also know an attorney who jumped out of the 2nd floor because the "voices told her to" she is schizophrenic %26amp; lived to tell me about it. As someone who has spoke to %26amp; helped 100's of Mental Health Patients (of which I am one of) I suggest you go get a reference from your Dr. to a Psychologist, today! you may be suffering from Clinical Depression. It can be cured w/medications and/ or talk therapy. You have nothing to lose but your life. I hoped this will help you. God Bless You Brah. Spirituality has helped me too, now I'm attending Community College %26amp; am almost normal, I'm 45.I truly believe that if you commit suicide you don't go on to the perfect place, you get stuck in limbo. How long it too long for wisdom teeth to come in?

For the last seven years, my wisdom teeth have been coming in very slowly. It seems like they will move for a month or two (and hurt like crazy!) and then stop moving for a few months, at which time they do not hurt. Two have partial tops that have broken through the surface of the gums, but they do not seem to be going anywhere. They also seem to be coming in crooked and are in danger of pushing the rest of my teeth around. The other two are mostly under the surface, except for a point or two. I don't have dental coverage, and since they do not hurt all the time, I can't really afford to have them pulled. Is it normal for them to take years to come in? My father never even had wisdom teeth and my mother had hers removed when she was very young, so they can't really help any.

How long it too long for wisdom teeth to come in?
Hey - I am a dental hygienist. It is very normal for wisdom teeth to take as long as they want to enter the mouth. I often see partially erupted wisdom teeth in people from 17-90. You may find that they stay just as they are for the rest of your life. We generally recommend having them extracted if they are altering your bite (meaning the way your teeth look or if they are crowding to the point of reducing the function of how you chew) or if they are situated in your mouth in a way that makes them very hard to keep clean. In people with periodontal disease we see the most deterioration in wisdom teeth. So, even if they aren't causing you trouble now it is possible for them to become a headache down the road. On the flip side, some people care for their wisdom teeth just fine and do not end up with troubles. Next time you visit the dentist ask for his/her opinion based on your individual mouth.
Reply:They will probably never come in. Usually there is not enough room. You are right, they will make your other teeth crooked if you do not get them out but if you don't have insurance, it can be quite expensive. Wish I had a better solution for you.

hmm... do yo live someplace close to a dental school? Maybe you can get it done there for cheap or free.
Reply:Some people have room in their mouths for wisdon teeth to come in well, and the only problem is making certain to brush and floss well way back there. Obviously you are not one of those people. The fact that they are coming in crooked and pushing other teeth around is a bigger problem than you may have considered. Besides being poor in appearance, crooked teeth are more difficult to brush well, so are more prone to decay. Crooked teeth also lead to periodontal disease. The longer you wait to have them removed, the longer their roots will be, if they are not already fully mature. The longer the roots, the more difficult they are to remove without damaging the nerve to that quarter of your mouth. That also means, the longer you wait, the more it will cost to have them removed. Considering all these factors, I hope you will put having them removed higher on your list of priorities so you will find some way to get the money to take care of them.
Reply:Mine came in over a period of 5-6 years. They also hurt periodically. They were all partially-erupted. The only reason I had them removed is because one of them caused a cavity in one of my molars because it was so close.

Suicidal victim of violence with pain specialist needs help. Broken jaw severe nerve trauma?

I am a white male who was out taking a walk by myself on Christmas Day. A black gang robbed me for some crack money, while they grinded my face into the pavement with their feet. A fourth black male who was not even involved in the crime who watched it happed from accross the street followed me inside a pizza parlor and broke my jaw just for kicks.

Sorry to hear your story but thanks to the advice though.

Piece of teeth fell off exposing filling. Dental crown only option?

Decent sized chunk of teeth fell out. about two thirds of the front . Haven't been to a dentist in a while but will look for one that works Saturday. I know this a far shot, but is it possible to glue the broken piece back on? Any advice guys?

Thanks.

Piece of teeth fell off exposing filling. Dental crown only option?
There are a few corporate dental offices that work on saturday. Immediadent I know is open 7 days a week. Sears dental I believe is open as well. 2/3's of your tooth is missing, in my experience, that amount of tooth structure lost, you will need a crown. It is funny that you said that about glueing your tooth back on. I would not do that. It wont bring your tooth back into function, and it will be a pain in the butt for the dentist who works on your tooth to fix it, a.k.a. more time for you in the dental chair. Hope this helps:)
Reply:depends on how big. you could just get a porcelain filling if a crown isn't needed (they are white)
Reply:Might be able to get the dentist to fill in the gaps... glueing it on is prob not goign to work. I am so envious you're not in pain... I never have that luck... hee hee. Good luck to you.
Reply:Yes it is but it will be difficult to find a dentist that will do that, or maybe it just wouldn't work with your tooth. The process uses some kind of blue light heat treatment with glue and porcelain. I had it done to one of my teeth once, but it didn't take and I ended up getting a crown anyway. A crown is your best bet since the filling is exposed. The dentist would not only have to glue the piece of tooth on but would also have to do drilling and filling. This doesn't sound practical with a tooth that already has filling in it.

hi i am 20 years old boy, my front two teeths had broken by half by an accident when i am was 13 , so i am wearing cap on the broken teeths till now. when i am consulting a dentist, he told teeth will not grow naturaly at this age.. what can i do for its natural growth.. plz any one help me... any mediciene is there?.. plz anyone find me solution.....

Hi i am 20 years old boy, my front two teeths had broken. what can i do for its natural growth, any mediciene?
No there is no medicine or anything you can do.. For a cheap alternative you can get composite veneers which are filling material.. They will never be as strong as you old teeth.. You must be careful when eating an apple ect.. Or a bit more distructive.. You can ger your front teeth crowned.. Which involved taking a few millimetres or the whole surface of the tooth and putting a porcelain cap on top
Reply:One of a couple things that I can suggest is consult an oral surgeon to see about fixing the break if it's pretty deep. I don't know of anything natural that would help it grow back at your age. You could also ask your primary care physician for an opinion to see what they say about this.
Reply:Sorry dude , your dentist is right , your teeth wont grow back ,and there is no medicine to make teeth grow ...you need to get it "capped" or get false teeth...good luck....
Reply:YOUR DENTIST IS RIGHT.
Reply:Go to a different dentist and have them do Bonding.

Dental Bonding is like the same idea as fake nails, except it is applied to your teeth.

They apply the solution, let it dry for like 10 minutes, file it down and they look natural. They will last a lifetime and it is painless.

I had it done to a broken front tooth in 1979 and it STILL looks good today (Except back then it cost $12.)
Reply:Nothing will make the teeth grow back. If u are uncomfortable about the cap, see another dentist or ask yours about other options. Maybe that'll make u feel more comfy in how they look at feel.
Reply:Like others have said, you're SOL. Teeth aren't like other bones in that they don't repair themselves if they're broken. You'll have to keep a cap on them or else just go around with broken teeth.

Hard foods after wisdom teeth removal.?

I had 4 of my wisdom teeth removed 16 days ago, and my surgeon told me not to chew hard foods for 4-5 weeks following surgery, because the weakened jaw bone can be accidentaly broken. Now I am afraid to chew at all. A piece of boiled cauliflower that wasn't soft enough crunched in my teeth and nearly made me to believe that I've got a jaw fracture already. I know it sounds silly, but... Does a person really know when he or she gets a jaw fracture?

Hard foods after wisdom teeth removal.?
That wasn't enough to do it.

Coach
Reply:Just eat soft foods for a while and you will get better.
Reply:Please make sure you call a dentist about this. It varies from person to person and how badley or nicely they were pulled out.
Reply:Sometimes. But generally, you would experience pain and swelling in that area.
Reply:im not sure about your question

but i would recommend getting liquids and soft foods
Reply:I was eating a thick juicy steak the evening after all 4 of my wisdom teeth out.
Reply:i think it would hurt a lot if you actually fractured your jaw...but you could always call him.

btw your jaw isn't that much weaker... i had 4 impacted wisdom teeth removed and never got this advice by one of the best oral surgeons in a major city. in my opinion, he only said that cuz he's just afraid of being sued really in the 1/million chance something did happen.... unless you have incredibly fragile bones and a very stretched out jaw, i dont see why it would be at risk.
Reply:My wisdom teeth removal experience was hell. Was bleeding from my mouth for a full day, had all 4 removed at same time. Couldn't eat anything remotely hard for atleast 2 weeks. I lost a couple pounds which was nice. Yeah, it hurts badly if you even touch your jaw, just keep ice on the jaw for a week or until swellin goes down.
Reply:Yes you would be in great pain, you wouldn't be able to but your teeth together. Sick to soups and any thing Else but it throw the blender, get well soon.
Reply:I had all four of my wisdom teeth out at once also and I was eating normally again in a week and a half. you just have chew with your mouth closed slighly smaller than normal. After about a week, you should try chewing things like steak and chicken in order to strenghten your jaw again, it will feel like you cannot open you jaw all the way, don't panic, just slowly stretch it back out.
Reply:I know how you feel but you should know if your jaw is weak. It will feel different and you will probably have sharp pains in certain places. Since your already into your third week I would recommend to start to eat firmer foods. Also you need to chew gum it helps strengthen for jaw and it massages where the wisdom theeth once were. A hard food that I would recomend is potato chips they arnt hard enoght to break your jaw but its a way to work up to other foods.
Reply:Each person is different but, its been 2 weeks and 2 days.. it is time to start training your mouth to eat regular food again. If you dont, you will continue to eat Jello until your 95yrs old. If its a issue about hungar, there are many things that you can blend and great shakes available, however, If after all this time, you're stilll in pain you should see a dentist to make sure all is still in tact. dont wait another two weeks.
Reply:Huh. When I had my wisdom teeth removed (all 4 at once), the dentist told me to eat soft foods (i.e., jello, pudding, soup) after the surgery, then shift back to my normal eating patterns. Since I could not eat the night before, I was starving. The jello diet lasted for 1 day, but I did make sure my meats and chunky vegetables were cut into tiny pieces to minimize chewing. My mouth was sore and it hurt a lot if a piece of food was chewed between the upper and lower jaw where the teeth were removed.

The question may be how deeply your teeth were impacted. If the dentist had to cut deeply into your jaw to remove the teeth, then it may be weaker. Call him back and ask what he considers "hard" foods.
Reply:Who's cooking your cauliflower? I smell a lawsuit here. Just kidding - It's not the impact of the food as much as the torque in your jaw that can stress the weakened parts sorrounding the teeth. I highly doubt you are in danger of breaking your jaw, but do try to stick to SOFT foods, and keep those holes clean. You really have to respect your doctors orders, but unless you have osteo-porosis, you can probably gamble on cauliflower being OK. Just cook it a little longer. And relax a little.

WIsdom teeth effect hair?

I am getting my wisdom teeth pulled tomorrrow, but a couple hours before I am getting a hair cut. A friend just told me that she did the same thing and it made her hair all frizy and broken. The nurse and hairdresser told her after that it was because of the anesthia. I was just wondering if anyone heard of this before?

WIsdom teeth effect hair?
that is one of the strangest questions I have ever heard.
Reply:that's weeeeeeeeeeeeeeeirrrrrrrrddddddd! wow! i had my wisdom teeth pulled but no haircut before so try to put off the haircut until later that week.
Reply:I searched it and turned up that yes, medications and anesthetic have been observed to affect hair, making it frizzier or causing it to "refuse" dye. I suppose it makes sense, as what you put into your body affects your whole body!
Reply:I dont know about your hair braking but i have heard of it fallin out.

Wisdom teeth pain?

is it just me? or was the most painfull part of the surgery them tightening the tournequette. hahaha. it was rubber and pulled the hair off my arm. but the needle/IV didnt hurt, and im not really in any pain, and i had all 4 wisdom teeth removed. just a little soreness in my jaw, but thats becuz the top teeth were impacted, so they had to break/cut the jawbone away. but ya, im not really taking any pain medication or anything. just penicillin to keep it from infection, and saltwater rinses to help the clots.

Wisdom teeth pain?
try yahoo comments. or come back when you ask something better than "is it just me?"
Reply:u are so brave, i can't do it,i got 4 wisdom teeth, only one in pain sometimes for 6 years,i'll never go to dentist, no way.
Reply:DON'T rinse too much though or u will get dry socket which will stay with you for a looooooong time.
Reply:You are lucky,

Generally the major source of the pain is from the subsequent infection. So if you are fairly religious about the saltwater rinces and take all of the penicillin. I did very good on my wisdom teeth as well painwise but was naughty and did not rince enough and there was a painful infection later.

Might be wise to have a couple of Advil (ibuprophen) around just in case you start to throb..at worst it will prevent losing any sleep.

good luck!

Damaged teeth from a punch in the face?

This past weekend someone I know got punched in the face for reasons that can't exactly be explained other than the person who punched my friend is mentally unstable and thought my friend said something offensive to them...which they did not because I was with them the entire night and never did I hear negative comments, so I'm assuming the puncher just misunderstood my friend. He waited for us to leave that night outside and jumped my friend as we were getting into his car, his nose was bleeding but not broken (this was on Saturday night), and now every time he blows his nose, because he has a chest cold at the moment, his front teeth hurt. They didn't appear to be damaged and his gums were not bleeding. Is there any other reason he may have pain when blowing his nose? (he hasn't gone to the dentist yet)

Damaged teeth from a punch in the face?
Try this on for size. The Upper front teeth lay only a few millimeters from the Upper sinus cavity. The punch your friend sustained may have been just enough to stress out the root tips where the nerves are and at the same time bruise the sinus area...I realize this is stretching a little but it is a real possibility that when you friend blows his nose the internal pressure he creates pushes air pressure into the sinus which in turn places enough pressure on the sinus wall to aggravate the nerve endings that attach to the front teeth. There are many body parts that can move slightly without your realizing they moved and the teeth can indeed do this.
Reply:if there is damage to the teeth they will be very sensitive to hot and cold.

when my son was 3 he head butted me and hit my front tooth. i ended up having to get a root canal. the head butt jarred the tooth enough to cut off the blood supply and the nerve died.

the only way to tell is to get an xray. if you ignore it it will not go away but progressively get worse.

the pain may be from getting punched, but you can't tell unless you get it checked out

Long question about wisdom teeth?

i have a few questions that i need to ask but my oral surgeon is an old grump and all he can say when i ask him questions is "did you watch the video?" half of my qs arent on the video and the ones that are have like 3 different answers to them.

1. i have an infection in both sides of my lower jaw where my wisdom teeth are ( will it make me hurt more than normal when he cleans it out?) and when he cleans it out, will it feel like a broken bone?

2. when they "clean out the infection" do they drill out the infected bone?

3. will my jaw be more prone to break?

4. how do they "wire your mouth shut"? i mean what do they do?

my husband had his out, but he didnt tell me anything about it because he says "its not important" but it is to me, because im scared. will it hurt when i wake up? is it possible to wake up in the middle of it? im getting the iv sedation.

Long question about wisdom teeth?
hey man lighten up, you will be out and nothing will go wrong, yes they drill out the bad bone but it will not hurt, you ought to have it done with local, that is a ******, it hurts worse than anything i have ever had done, i had two shots and it still hurt so bad i groaned and scared the heck outta the ppl in his waiting room! no you will not wake up while he is doing it, and the reason he did it while i was awake was he didn't know until he got in there and said it would take about two more hours than necessary to hook me up and put me out, and since he was already started did i want him to just do it and get it over with, i groaned yes and clamped down on the bite wedge! nearly pooped and peed my pants but it was over pretty quick, he was excellent, he was impressed, said no one had ever had that done without anesthesia.
Reply:Do minor operation to remove that wisdom teeth, it can ease your pain.
Reply:omg yes its going to hurt more with an infection present because he'll have to clean it all out, however you'll prolly be sleeping and wont be in any pain at all untill you wake up, plus they give you pills for that. (the pain) secondly they prolly wont have to drill and for question 3 i think it depends on how far the infection has gotten already if its more prone to break or not, hopefully they caught in in time and can clean it all out without breaking it. as for the wiriing of your mouth shut i've seen in before and it looks kind of like braces only in the back of your mouth and you can still use a straw and go on a milkshake diet. you might want to get a second opionion though that was really not cool what he said about wakin up with your jaw wired shut if that was a joke its not funny.
Reply:I had all four pulled out when I was twenty two. I should have had them out sooner. I suffered with problems for years before they were out. Number one. I don't know of any dentist who would pull an infected wisdom tooth, they'd rather put you on antibiotics to clear up the infection long before you have this surgery. Number two. You won't feel any pain while this procedure is done if you under inhaled anesthesia. I don't believe in any case your mouth would be wired shut. Yes It will hurt when you wake up. Prescription painkillers will help. You should really consult a dental collage near you for much more help.
Reply:Oh my god!Who in the world got you so nervous.I have worked with surgeon for a year. The rest of the 11 years was with the general dentist. So you gonna go to sleep, and wake up without your wisdom teeth in your mouth. There is no infected bone. The infection eats away your bone.So when infection gets to your bone ,it dissolves and gets thinner. They drill the bone when the teeth are impacted. So they drill it to get the tooth out.No you are not going to wake up during. If you do,they'll add more sleepy juice in your iv within seconds you'll be gone again. The pain will come after wards, some swelling and bruising is possible.Your surgeon is telling you the worst case scenario. It doesn't mean it will happen. He is telling you all the possibilities.so you won't say i didn't know.Good luck.
Reply:Just have them taken out. usually their is not enough room for them anyway. Some people have the tooth in front of them pulled instead and the wisdom tooth comes in and moves right into the place where the other tooth is. This can save some people from unnecessary surgery. I would get a different dentist It does not matter if you have been going to him for a long time he is not giving u the attention u deserve. A good one will explain everything to u not a movie.

Do I have a broken rib?

A few weeks ago, I slipped on a metal railing and had it pushed into my rib under my bra's underwire on my right side. I didn't notice the pain at the time (OK I was at a bar drinking lol) but the next morning I noticed it hurt to breathe. Now, it's been about 3 or 4 weeks and it is still a bit painful if I laugh or cough or try to lift anything heavy. I have been taking Tylenol for my wisdom teeth and it makes the rib pain go away. Does it sound like I broke a rib? Honestly, I don't have health insurance so please spare me the "go see a doctor" answer. Still, I wake up in the middle of the night to find my self in pain because I rolled over on that side. Also, I have had to walk somewhat hunched over because I am afraid to stretch backward that it might pop out or something. The area itself never bruised or got swollen, but it is obviously something internally. So anyway-broken rib??? What can I do???

Do I have a broken rib?
First till the pain subsides do not lay flat. Laying flat can promote pneumonia, try to sleep in a reclined position. Yes you sound as if you have cracked your ribs and or pulled the muscles severly. If the pain does not subside in a couple of weeks please seek medical attention.
Reply:Some years ago my father fell from a ladder at work and broke two or three. Trust me, broken ribs apparently are a TERRIBLE pain. I would have the doctor look at it, but if you aren't in agony, then it's probably not broken. Though you may have bruised the muscles between your ribs or something.
Reply:I've fractured a rib before and that's what it sounds like. The good news is that there is not much that they can do even if you go and get an x-ray. They told me to avoid hitting it and make sure to inhale deeply so that it does not heal at a funny inward angle. That being said whenever you have chronic pain like this it's worth getting at least a cursory examination at a clinic.
Reply:sounds broken or cracked -- I had both after a car accident,

and the it was pain pills and let it mend. Nothing more,

nothing less ---- never did nothin to my body before or

since that hurt so much for so long.
Reply:Sharp pain when you breathe may mean that the rib is broke and it hurts to expand the rib cage. You need to see your doctor because if you move the wrong way or fall with a broken rib you could potentialy peirce your lung or another organ!
Reply:Insurance or no insurance, you need to go to the ER. Last Tuesday while practicing kickboxing with my wife I, in my infinite wisdom, said "Kick me as hard as you can in the side"...well, she did and I felt something snap. I went on for a few days with pain very similar to yours. I eventually went to the ER because it hurt to breathe. They did an xray and found a cleanly broken rib. Side not, I didn't have any bruising and still don't. He gave me some Vicodin and I went about my life. The wife and I had planned a trip to Coney Island for yesterday so we went ahead with the plans, however, I had decided not to ride any rides. Well, once again, in my infinite wisdom, I rode virtually every ride and on one particular water slide, I felt something snap again and this time it damn near brought me to tears. I tried to make it to the van but passed out. A first aid technician fot the park just happened to be passing by and saw me. End result, I was taken to the ER in an ambulance because I had deminished breathing on my left side and they were concerned that I had punctured a lung. After 4 1/2 hours in the ER I was told that my lungs were fine, however, I had broken two more ribs. Turns out that my wife had broken 1 and fractured to with her trusty side-snap kick and the water slide helped me to break them completely. So you could have a MUCh bigger problem if you don't go get it checked out. Sorry for the long post. Dan in Cincinnati, OH

Do I have a broken rib?
It sounds like you bruised your ribs. I have done this before and it is as painful as if you broke them. They (doctor's) really can't do much for it. Take an anti-inflammatory for any swelling, Tylenol for pain. If the area is swollen - put some ice packs on it. Once the swelling goes down you can put a heating pad on it.

Wisdom teeth!?

How long does it take for them to come up? They are perfectly normal looking teeth. I can see one of them breaking through my gum, but its taking so long to come up. They started coming up lastnight. The pain is just horrible.

Now I know how 1 year olds feel.

Additional Details

I am 25 by the way they started coming up when I was 17 then stopped. So I am surprised to see them breaking through my gum.

Wisdom teeth!?
I have 4 wisdom teeth on the surface, not inmpacted. They all took different time lenght to come out. None of them hurt beyond slight discomfort though. You might want to find out if they are not healthy already, sometimes it happens.
Reply:They are rotten and painful. Everyone is different, take some ibuprofen.
Reply:See if you can get them all taken out. It's much easier. If they're removed then you won't have to worry about them crowding into your other teeth.
Reply:I totally know what ur talking about. it hurts and I wanna chew toy
Reply:some peoples w. teeth never make it in, they are impacted, need to go to the dentist for x-rays, yours are NOT NORMAL
Reply:I don't know how long it will take for all your wisdom teeth to come in, but I do know they hurt so bad it will have you crying. Mine started coming in at 15yrs old they really didn't start bothering now that I'm in my 20's and had to get them pulled out. Because they where pushing on my other teeth so I had to get them removed because it would of mess up the lining of my teeth. So unless they hurt very very bad get them take in' out. Don't need to be in pain.
Reply:My first wisdom tooth started pushing through the gum back in the spring of 2003. I'll be 25 in October and I just had 3 of the 4 wisdom teeth pulled out this past Wednesday (August 2). I still have one wisdom tooth that hasn't come through yet and the dentist said he was going to leave that one alone...at least until it started to cause problems which may or may not happen.

I would go ahead and see if you can get them taken out. They gave me some valium, gas (over my nose of course), and some shots in the gum around the teeth that were going to be taken out. I was given some penicillen and some pain reliver. The pain reliever made me extremely drowsy and sleepy but I had some of the best sleep....the best that I'd had in a very long time. The top two wisdom teeth didn't bother me it was just the one that was on the bottom. It was rather difficult for the dentist to get out of my mouth (my mouth is small and the tooth was coming in sideways).

Anyway, if you work and you decide to get the wisdom teeth taken out make sure that you have plenty of time off.
Reply:If you could see your wisdom teeth when you were 17 and they just now showed some movement, I hope you can get an x-ray taken to see if they are leaning against the adjacent tooth or if they are growing in the right direction. I'd bet they are not growing straight or they would have been in a few months after you first saw them.

I have nose pain, top to bottom. I also have numbness in front teeth. I was hit in the nose recently, again.?

I was hit 10 years ago, that hit loosened cartilage. I was hit again recently, causing pain throughout my nose. I now have numbness in my teeth and my nose is constantly filling up.

Could it be broken? A hairline fracture? Should I see a doc?

I have nose pain, top to bottom. I also have numbness in front teeth. I was hit in the nose recently, again.?
It could be broken...but usually your eyes blacken with a broken nose...(but not always). It's possible that the second hit deviated your septum, which is why your nose is always congested...and that requires professional attention. See an ENT specialist (Ear, Nose, Throat).

Does it feel or hurt that bad having your wisdom teeth out? Are the tool they use that bad? What happens ???

any advice would be greatly appreciated. How long does it take for two bottom teeth? Can they fix really bad whole in the middle of a wisdom tooth. Its it easier with the teeth under the skin or over? Is it harder when one is a bit broken but has a whole in the middle?

What is it likeor look like if you have a nerve exposed

I'm abit nervous but im thinking of my children and thats what is keeping me strong.

Does it feel or hurt that bad having your wisdom teeth out? Are the tool they use that bad? What happens ???
1. IF..... your wisdom tooth is below the skin they will have to knock you out and surgically remove it.

Two bottom teeth will take longer than 2hrs (including recovery time)

2. IF....it is above the surface, they will give you a needle, which will numb your entire jaw and YOU WONT FEEL A THING!!

Two bottom teeth will take a maximum of 1hr

THE COST

1. Getting surgery, you will have to pay for a surgical procedure, up to $2000

2. Getting it pulled will cost a fraction of the price $100ish

My tooth was above the skin, the nerve exposed and had a HUGE hole in the middle of it and they had no trouble at all.

TOTALLY PAINLESS!!!

Don't panic, It's best to get it done now though!!!

The longer you wait the more your teeth will decay.

You will be amazed at the size of the tooth that sits below your jaw!!!
Reply:They Knock you out , so no worrie !!
Reply:Difficult to say, different for everybody. Mine popped out quite easily, Mrs Gungir looked for days like her face has saddlebags.
Reply:oh man, i will never forget the day i had my teeth pulled. i had all four done at once. afterwards it hurt like a mother. they gave me vicodin, and i threw up all day long, that hurts soo bad because of the pressure of throwing up made my mouth bleed. if you havent taken vicodin before i would ask for something not so strong. OK
Reply:You will be fine. If you go under, there is usually more pain after. They have a limited time to get them out and usually will be more agressive. If they freeze the area and you are awake, they will remove them more gently, and they have more time until freezing wears off. Personally, I wouldn't want to know what they are doing. I'd rather be out.
Reply:Don't worry, the dentist will give you anesthetic, maybe local (you'll be awake) or maybe general (where he puts you to sleep). Either way, you won't feel any pain.

He can also prescribe painkillers and anti-swelling medication for the days after the surgery. It will be OK!!! Good luck and don't worry.
Reply:Usually they knock you out for that kinda stuff. I don't think it matters if it's above or below the skin. It's just tougher if it's in the bone or coming up under another tooth. They may cut the tooth in half and take it out in sections if it's a more complicated case. The doctor will tell you the risks etc. You'll be sore for several days but you'll have lotsa medicine and probably just sleep it off. It's a common procedure now a days. You may look like a chipmunk for a bit though.

My friend had hers taken out by a dentist and didn't get knocked out. She wanted to save money. He pulled them out...I don't recommend that. She looked so miserable.

Well, I hope all goes well for you. Check out your dentist and make sure you get a good one. And remember, you don't feel a thing during the surgery cause your in la la land thanks to the wonders of drugs. :)

Do i need a deep cleaning to get fillings in my teeth?

i recently went to the dentist, first time in many years.i had a broken jaw many years ago and they put the plates on my teeth /wired shut and as a result of the plates i ended up needing filling where the plates were, but never got them.so now i went to the dentist for fillings and he said i needed a deep cleaning before i get fillings,is this true?i dont have the money right now for the deep cleaning and they say my insurance wont pay for a deep cleaning, and that i have to pay for it ,and i just dont have that kind of money,so do i really need a deep cleaning before i get a filling???

Do i need a deep cleaning to get fillings in my teeth?
the fillings will not be as good if your gums are not in the best shape possible particularly is they are close to the gum line. oozing and bleeding gums are a problem when trying to keep the tooth surfaces dry.

only skip the deep cleaning if you aren't worry about the longevity of the fillings
Reply:Yes
Reply:No. I went to the dentist for the first time in a while. He said I needed two fillings and did them. He then suggested that I get a deep cleaning, AFTER he was done with my fillings. I told him okay, since I have insurance and am going to do the deep cleaning. But if you don't have money for the deep cleaning, tell him Thank You but No and that you just want the fillings, if he still won't do it go to another Dentist.
Reply:It's not normally necessary but I'd have to examine you to understand what the problem is. Maybe your gums are bleeding quite a lot at the minute, and sometimes placement of a filling is impossible under these conditions. A deep cleaning would make your gums healthier and maybe the filling procedure will be easier. I might be wrong. I would ask my dentist, if I were you

How come bad teeth only get worse?

The body is designed to heal itself if you allow it to do so/help it out a bit (i.e.: a broken bone will try to mend %26amp; calcify even if it's not "set" correctly; or, an infected cut in the skin will heal up if you treat the infection and don't irritate the cut; etc.)

How come teeth don't work like this? I have never heard of anyone who suffered from an infected tooth (a cavity, basically) that got better without dental treatment.

How come bad teeth only get worse?
I think God wants us remeber this phrase..... "Eat to liv, dont live to eat."
Reply:they do they fall out
Reply:because your teeth arent really like a part of your body, there are no bones nerves or anything.
Reply:The acids from our foods irritate the protective layers of the tooth. You can have a tooth recalcify if the cavity is not too big.

If we didn't have doctors to take care of our sicknesses we would be dying at the age of 30-35 and the teeth last long enough for that without dentists. But since we live to 80, we have to make the teeth last that long or get dentures.
Reply:Bone can mend because it is completely internal to the body. Inside the body, the bone can be supplied with blood through a pervasive circulatory system, and is a living tissue.

A tooth on the other hand is not internal to the body-- Part of it is exposed to the outside world, and the part that is exposed is not living tissue (the enamel, which has no living cells in it). There is no way for a circulatory system to reach the enamel to repair it because it is outside the body.

Hope this clears things.

Is there some sort of blood test that can detect blood poisoning from abscessed teeth?

I am going to have them pulled on October 1st thank goodness. I have two bottom wisdom teeth that grew in decayed and as a result they are both broken off into the gum and they both have holes in them which collect a lot of food. I try to keep them cleaned out but it doesn't always work. Right now I am having severe pain. I also have an upper tooth that is cracked and when the gum becomes inflamed it will poke through the crack of the teeth. That one often gets abscessed.

I feel that I may have some sort of blood poisoning because I always feel sick, I have a lot of stomach pain (ulcer like pain), I have headaches all the time and my body always feels tight and like it's a lot of pressure on my body.

Are there any blood tests out there that I can request to detect if there is blood poisoning in my system?

discuss this with your primary doctor and surgeon.
Reply:They can run blood cultures to check this.

How long to recover from all 4 wisdom teeth getting pulled?

A few friends and i are supposed to be having a party over spring break, the 22nd. im getting my wisdom teeth [all 4] removed the 20th... how long will my face be huuuuge for? %26amp;%26amp; i heard the pain only last real bad the like first two days?

Will i be okay for the 22nd!? [ swollen wise? ]

Please. thanks!!

How long to recover from all 4 wisdom teeth getting pulled?
make sure u ice your face so u dont swell but i would expect pain for atleast 2 days
Reply:my brother had that happen and he looked like a chipmunk for a week -_-
Reply:it depends if you are having surgery to have them extracted or if it is a simple extraction.

with surgery, everyone's body is different. i have some friends who recovered in like 2 days. i was really swollen for about 3 days, and after that i was just really sore, and couldn't work for a week.

ask your dentist what they think, judging by your x-rays. they will have a pretty good idea whether it will be a longer recovery for more complicated extractions, or something a little easier and faster.

Having 4 Wisdom Teeth Extracted Along with 5 other teeth...?

In a little less than two weeks, I am going to be having oral surgery to have all four of my wisdom teeth removed... one has already grown out of the gums, one is still in the gums, one is impacted and one is beginning to break through. Along with having my four wisdom teeth removed, I am having the tooth next to each of my wisdom teeth removed and a tooth three away from the wisdom tooth that has already grown out of the gums... I will be under IV sedation and will have stitches that dissolve. I am wondering what my recover time may be for having so many teeth removed at the same time. And, how easy will I have to take it on talking? I am planning to have four days of recovery after the surgery from work. I work in a juvenile detention center and at times I have to raise my voice... as well as occasionally having to talk a lot. During intakes, we have a lot of paperwork to go through with a juvenile. How quickly will I be able to raise my tone and talk for extended time?

Having 4 Wisdom Teeth Extracted Along with 5 other teeth...?
With having 4 to 9 teeth extracted, recovery time will take longer than 4 days. You will be quite sore, and not able to raise your voice.

Give yourself 6 to 7 days, even with pain medications. Then re-asses how you feel.

Good luck!
Reply:I had my wisdom teeth out about 1 month ago. Under sedation you will probably go home and rest for a couple hours after. You will be so drugged up you won't care how you feel. Most Dental Surgeons will prescribe a pain killer for you, so have a friend pick that up while you sleep. You should stay pain free for a couple days then it wears off.

Just wondering why they are removing those molars? Usually they don't take teeth out unless they are decayed beyond belief. Check into that. Good Luck
Reply:Sounds somewhat similar to what I had done, except mine was all 4 wisdom teeth, and only 1 additional, but, close enough, I also had IV sedation.... same as you will.

Pretty much, as soon as the wounds stop bleeding you'll be able to take the gauze out of your mouth and talk. For me, when I got home it had stopped bleeding, some have bleeding for longer, but if you do, you can also try applying a used teabag to the wound, and theres something in the tea that will help it heal.

Other than that, as long as you're on painkillers, you should be able to talk normally without any problems. The problems come when you're off painkillers, since youll have an extremely limited motion of your jaw, and it will hurt to move it. I would suggest trying to stretch it out as much as you can while the painkillers are working, since that will help with your range of motion. I noticed, that full range of motion in my jaw didnt come back for about a month (give or take a week), so that could limit how loud you can talk comfortably, but, it pretty much comes down to.... with painkillers (i was taking vicodin and ibuprofen) youll be fine, without, might be a month or so.

Reply:Recovery time takes about three weeks for everything to heal. In about 3 or 4 days you should be able to raise your voice just fine.

Will I Survive A Painful Surgery On My Teeth?

I'm 13 and I cut my teeth in really late when I was a baby. I just lost my last baby tooth and all of my other teeth are good except this one. It's adult bottom tooth that is coming in far behind and the only way to pull it forward (before I get braces which will be soon after this) is a surgery or something else (I forgot what it was but my dentist already made up his mind to do surgery). He obviously didn't care about telling me how painful it will be and I will have to be put out by medicine and by putting that bubblegum scented thing over my nose (actually they have bubblegum, strawberry, grape, or apricot but I always choose bubblegum lol!) while they use a machine to pull forward that one tooth. He said it will be sore for two weeks!!! I've never had surgery, I've never broken a bone - I've never been to the hospital except for the day I was born and when I once visited someone! I am so scared right now cuz what if I don't wake up? I'm not use to painful stuff. Thanx tons

Will I Survive A Painful Surgery On My Teeth?
Its not bad at all. When ever I was knocked out when I got my wisdom teeth pulled this is what happened to me.

They put the mask on my nose. The nurse left the room. I sat there, fine until I started to get really sleepy. You know when you get barely any sleep the night before and the next day your tired its the same. Anyway I tried to move around, that wakes me up for a bit but it was so hard. I wondered why it took so much energy for me to move. The dentist came in with 2 nurses. He tried to have a conservation with me to make sure I was calm but I was so tired, I don't remember what he even said. He brought a IV that had more sleepy drugs in it. He took my left hand very gently. I looked down at him, it was so hard to turn my head, he sprayed a cold thing on my hand. Then he put the IV in. I didn't even feel the needle go in. By this time, it was hard to keep my eyes open, strangley I was happy. The OS (oral surgen) has a high voice for a guy. I said something like "your gay" what ever comes into your head comes out loud, he gave me a funny look. I guess he's heard things like that before. He put his mask on and leaned the chair back. I remember seeing the light in my eyes, and hearing a voice saying "and open" and I was out.

Not bad at all once I woke up, I felt like I'd been sleeping for days, but still wozy. My mom helped me to the car and helped me to the couch, I slept for a while, when I woke up there was a bowl of Benand Jerries.

Nothing bad at all, you'll be on good drugs and you really won't remember anything.
Reply:dude, no worries!!!! ive been in the hospital SEVERAL times, Broken neck, dislocatd knee cap, practially got my arm pulled out of its socket XD the gas wont entirely kill you, you're just unconicous, its more like deep sleeping. You'll wake up its guaranteeed....plous think abuot people who are loosing their arms or legs and they wake up in the middle of the procedure....that would SUK!! trust me ur luky
Reply:Hey, your just having the "I've never done this before jitters". No, you will not fail to wake up after the surgical procedure is completed...you will wake and be just fine, a little woozy, but fine. Yes, there will be some discomfort for a few days but nothing really bad at all. Besides, the Dentist will give your parents a pain medication prescription that will take care of the pain issue. You will be instructed about using a cold pack to keep swelling down and you will be instructed to eat a "Soft" or "Liquid" diet for three to five day's. I would also expect the DDS to give you an antibiotic to take for ten days. All in all, you should do just fine.
Reply:You will be just fine and, I hope you are ok with this, you won't be in that room by yourself at all. Honey God is right there with you and helping the doctor(s) do their job.

Just remember Psalm, I think it is 32, The Lord is my Shepard I shall not want. Also prior to getting bubble gum scent, think of a place you want to be, maybe Disney World and then you may dream about that.

If it helps any, aftermy sophomore year of college while I was home on summer break I had all 4 wise dome teeth out at once, at the time only my mouth was nummed. I didn't get put to sleep.

I was so afraid of going though. I did just fine and you will too.

Best of Luck and God Bless.

Should I get my wisdom teeth removed even if they are not braking out or bothering me?

I went to the dentist and they found out that I have two wisdom teeth (lower jaw) in an angle. I'm 20 and none of them have broken out yet, but the dentist insists in getting them out, since I once had braces (cuz teeth coming out can crowd and i have no room). They are not giving me any pain or problems, (just the psycological effect of having to go and get surgery done). Should I get a second opinion or go for getting rid of them?

Should I get my wisdom teeth removed even if they are not braking out or bothering me?
Yes, you should get them out. Do you want to wait for it to be an emergency before you do something? Then'll you be in for a lot more pain and cost. Mine didnt bother me either, and I was out of the country for a year, so I didnt go to the dentist to know it was a problem- then they pushed my lower teeth around during that year, and I ended up having to get braces to move my teeth back to where they would have been had I gotten the wisdom teeth out sooner.
Reply:wait till they start hurting u but on the other side do you want to wear another brace and have ur teath wonky ?
Reply:get them all out at once....the pain is killer if you are allergic to the painkillers like i was. but the angle will impact other teeth.
Reply:a second opinion never hurts. However, if they are angled they may be impacting the teeth in front of them which is why they have not come through. while in the military I had all four wisdom teeth extracted at the same time. it was not a big problem. I mean it wasn't a party but it was manageable.
Reply:If they are not impacted, and affecting you're other teeth. No. You may have to as you get older, but only speaking from being older with all my wisdom teeth still installed.
Reply:I would. I got mine out when i was 18, which was two years ago. I had a great experience. Mine were cut out, because they hadn't cut through the gums yet. Mine were growing at an angle too. The longer you wait the worse it will be. I would do it now.
Reply:I just had all four of mine taken out. the surgery really wasn't bad and was actually pretty quick. I was nervous about the pain and whatnot but it was actually an easy recovery.. anywho.. it is not absolutely necessary to have them taken out. however, it would be cheaper to have them taken out now rather than before they break through the gums. once it breaks through it then becomes a tooth extraction rather than surgery and your health insurance wont pay for it. thats at least how mine worked (i would reommend checking your health/dental plans).

You may want to have them taken out or at least checked out thoroughly before they do start causing problems with your other teeth and jaw.

Good luck
Reply:TRUST ME get them takin out before they start hurting, i waited til they hurted (not that i knew they were out already) and them things hurt like hell, please go get them takin out because when they hurt they HURT!!!!!!!!!! it is no joke, i was up for like 2 days in a row because at the emegency room they could not do anything and i had to wait for my dentist to open on monday, it is HORRIBLE!!! I wanted to rip them things out my mouth myself by the end of the first day and i cracked one of them and then the inner nerve was exposed and that is the WORST pain i have EVER felt! by the way im 20 as well so trust me get them takin out.
Reply:If you have crowded teeth and the wisdoms are at an angle, you should get them taken out. They will mess up what your braces have done. Personally, the worst thing i fear and hate is the actual shot in the mouth the doc. gives.
Reply:Yes I would get them out now, before they impact your other teeth %26amp; cause a bigger problem. Wisdom tooth removal is quite common %26amp; its better at your age, as the younger you are the better you heal. I would discuss with your dentist if he plans to take them 1 out at a time, take just the lower 2 out or take all 4 out. I had my very first wisdom tooth removed when I was 18. Than when I was 22 I had 2 more wisdom teeth removed out about 2 weeks apart. I'm now 23 %26amp; just had my last wisdom tooth (lower left) %26amp; the tooth right next to it removed. In my case it was not that they were angled or danger of being impacted, it was because I have no enamel on any of my teeth (gum disease inhereted from birth) %26amp; they abcessed, which do to my teeth condition the best thing to do is just remove them instead of trying root canal or anything else. Depending upon if he plans on knocking you out or just using novacaine/lidocaine would dictate alot if you should get them removed 1 or 2 at a time, or if all should be removed togather. Hope you have an easy %26amp; noncomplicated extraction %26amp; goodluck mate. Wisdom tooth removal is quite common %26amp; usually is not a bad procedure, just be sure to follow all orders from your dentist to avoid complications %26amp; hopefully your roots are not too long as if they are it can become a difficult removal like my last 2 did, which means more pain, longer healing time, more swelling %26amp; longer procedure time. A good dentist would answer any questions you have %26amp; explain in detail the procedure that will be done.
Reply:I am now 28 and should have gotten them out at 20. My bottom teeth were perfectly straight at one time, but now are crooked due to the wisdom teeth growing at an angle. The wisdom teeth didn't bother me at that time, and didn't start bothering me till a couple of years ago, and that was only sporadically a couple times a year. Get it done or your teeth will start to become crowded and because of the crowding it will cause your straight teeth to come out of line, and be crooked..
Reply:Yes if the dentist recommended them to be removed. Your teeth WILL erupt and it will be painful because the wisdom teeth will start pushing all your other teeth around (making them crooked).

Broken nose?

Alright so I was on the trampoline, I tried to backflip and took my knee to the nose. I fell over in excrutiating pain. After a while I felt alright and got up. It bled a little out of one nostril.

Now its swollen a bit. A firm push to the tip makes me feel like my upper teeth want to fall out. No big bumps or bruising apparent. Is it broken? Any advice?

Broken nose?
See a doc.
Reply:Does it appear crooked in any way? if so see a nose doctor. If it does not get better in 2 weeks see a doctor.
