At what point would it be advisable to have teeth pulled and get dentures?

I have had large fillings in most of my teeth for years. These fillings are breaking down and will have to be redone, and have root canals and caps. Most of them have been redone already at least once. I absolutely HATE going to the dentist.....I don't know if there is a name for that "phobia" but I have about reached my limit. If it is really best STILL to keep my own teeth I will. The dentist always needs the "business" so I am not sure he will ever say to get dentures. I am 52.

If the dentist says that the teeth are restorable then keep them! There is nothing like your natural teeth....Its very frustrating with dentures.....Getting use to them, Learning how to talk with them in your mouth, Getting a whole lot of adjustments done to them. I would suggest saving your teeth if they can be saved. good luck!
Reply:When u cannot chew and when the dentist unable to fit a denture for missing teeth only.
Reply:sounds like now would be a good time to go ahead and get the dentures, look at it this way--will be the last time you have to go to the dentist and no more tooth aches.
Reply:Keep up the dental work. I would go for dentures in my 60's.
Reply:I would never get dentures!, I'll have all posts and caps before that happens!
