Long question about wisdom teeth?

i have a few questions that i need to ask but my oral surgeon is an old grump and all he can say when i ask him questions is "did you watch the video?" half of my qs arent on the video and the ones that are have like 3 different answers to them.

1. i have an infection in both sides of my lower jaw where my wisdom teeth are ( will it make me hurt more than normal when he cleans it out?) and when he cleans it out, will it feel like a broken bone?

2. when they "clean out the infection" do they drill out the infected bone?

3. will my jaw be more prone to break?

4. how do they "wire your mouth shut"? i mean what do they do?

my husband had his out, but he didnt tell me anything about it because he says "its not important" but it is to me, because im scared. will it hurt when i wake up? is it possible to wake up in the middle of it? im getting the iv sedation.

Long question about wisdom teeth?
hey man lighten up, you will be out and nothing will go wrong, yes they drill out the bad bone but it will not hurt, you ought to have it done with local, that is a ******, it hurts worse than anything i have ever had done, i had two shots and it still hurt so bad i groaned and scared the heck outta the ppl in his waiting room! no you will not wake up while he is doing it, and the reason he did it while i was awake was he didn't know until he got in there and said it would take about two more hours than necessary to hook me up and put me out, and since he was already started did i want him to just do it and get it over with, i groaned yes and clamped down on the bite wedge! nearly pooped and peed my pants but it was over pretty quick, he was excellent, he was impressed, said no one had ever had that done without anesthesia.
Reply:Do minor operation to remove that wisdom teeth, it can ease your pain.
Reply:omg yes its going to hurt more with an infection present because he'll have to clean it all out, however you'll prolly be sleeping and wont be in any pain at all untill you wake up, plus they give you pills for that. (the pain) secondly they prolly wont have to drill and for question 3 i think it depends on how far the infection has gotten already if its more prone to break or not, hopefully they caught in in time and can clean it all out without breaking it. as for the wiriing of your mouth shut i've seen in before and it looks kind of like braces only in the back of your mouth and you can still use a straw and go on a milkshake diet. you might want to get a second opionion though that was really not cool what he said about wakin up with your jaw wired shut if that was a joke its not funny.
Reply:I had all four pulled out when I was twenty two. I should have had them out sooner. I suffered with problems for years before they were out. Number one. I don't know of any dentist who would pull an infected wisdom tooth, they'd rather put you on antibiotics to clear up the infection long before you have this surgery. Number two. You won't feel any pain while this procedure is done if you under inhaled anesthesia. I don't believe in any case your mouth would be wired shut. Yes It will hurt when you wake up. Prescription painkillers will help. You should really consult a dental collage near you for much more help.
Reply:Oh my god!Who in the world got you so nervous.I have worked with surgeon for a year. The rest of the 11 years was with the general dentist. So you gonna go to sleep, and wake up without your wisdom teeth in your mouth. There is no infected bone. The infection eats away your bone.So when infection gets to your bone ,it dissolves and gets thinner. They drill the bone when the teeth are impacted. So they drill it to get the tooth out.No you are not going to wake up during. If you do,they'll add more sleepy juice in your iv within seconds you'll be gone again. The pain will come after wards, some swelling and bruising is possible.Your surgeon is telling you the worst case scenario. It doesn't mean it will happen. He is telling you all the possibilities.so you won't say i didn't know.Good luck.
Reply:Just have them taken out. usually their is not enough room for them anyway. Some people have the tooth in front of them pulled instead and the wisdom tooth comes in and moves right into the place where the other tooth is. This can save some people from unnecessary surgery. I would get a different dentist It does not matter if you have been going to him for a long time he is not giving u the attention u deserve. A good one will explain everything to u not a movie.
