I'm 39 and have my last wisdom tooth coming in, hasn't broken the skin, anyone else with this issue - painful.

I've had all the wisdom teeth removed. None of them had broken through yet.

They were not as bad as when a very bad dentist was doing a root canal on a lower front tooth. I kept telling him it wasn't numb, I was crying and it was the worst pain I ever endured. Finally the dentist's uncle (also a dentist) came in and gave me a shot on the other side. It immediately stopped hurting and the rest of the root canal was painless,,,, until the anesthetic wore off!

If you ever get in a situation like this, remember, the nerves can cross over sometimes!

Have your other wisdom teeth felt that way coming in?

If not then maybe you should go to the dentist and get an x-ray, it could be coming in sideways{which is pretty common} under the gums and will eventually push the other teeth/roots....Mine were and I had to get all 4 of mine surgically removed...
Reply:yeah...I'm still in my twenties but i had two wisdom teeth growing out during the last 12 months..couldn't eat..couldn't sleep...had to take pain killer every 4 to 6 hours for 7 days..that really killed my liver but hey I survived...
Reply:Very painful. I have been avoiding having it taken out for years. Usually I just take some heavy duty painkillers for a couple of days and eventually it goes back down for quite awhile before it flares up again. When it gets really swollen back there I take antibiotics for a few days and that seems to help also. I have been doing this for the last 10 years and it has worked so far. I know eventually I will have to get it taken care of. Good luck.
Reply:yes I have the same problem mine is impacted so I will have to get it cut out it even makes my ear hurt
Reply:yes, that happened to me couple months ago (I was 33 at the time). chewing on ice provided some relief, as did warm tea (but not together or one after the other). Clove oil works for some people, but it didn't do much for me.

The OTC local pain killers just number my mouth and made me drool, and I had to take a ridiculous amount of Alleve to subdue the pain.

I'd suggest going to your dentist- if it really hurts and it's pressing against the other teeth, it might be have to be taken out. If it just needs to break the skin, they can make a small cut while you're there- it hurts for a minute, but it's worth the relief and the money since you'll be able to eat and sleep again.
