Should I get my wisdom teeth removed even if they are not braking out or bothering me?

I went to the dentist and they found out that I have two wisdom teeth (lower jaw) in an angle. I'm 20 and none of them have broken out yet, but the dentist insists in getting them out, since I once had braces (cuz teeth coming out can crowd and i have no room). They are not giving me any pain or problems, (just the psycological effect of having to go and get surgery done). Should I get a second opinion or go for getting rid of them?

Yes, you should get them out. Do you want to wait for it to be an emergency before you do something? Then'll you be in for a lot more pain and cost. Mine didnt bother me either, and I was out of the country for a year, so I didnt go to the dentist to know it was a problem- then they pushed my lower teeth around during that year, and I ended up having to get braces to move my teeth back to where they would have been had I gotten the wisdom teeth out sooner.
Reply:wait till they start hurting u but on the other side do you want to wear another brace and have ur teath wonky ?
Reply:get them all out at once....the pain is killer if you are allergic to the painkillers like i was. but the angle will impact other teeth.
Reply:a second opinion never hurts. However, if they are angled they may be impacting the teeth in front of them which is why they have not come through. while in the military I had all four wisdom teeth extracted at the same time. it was not a big problem. I mean it wasn't a party but it was manageable.
Reply:If they are not impacted, and affecting you're other teeth. No. You may have to as you get older, but only speaking from being older with all my wisdom teeth still installed.
Reply:I would. I got mine out when i was 18, which was two years ago. I had a great experience. Mine were cut out, because they hadn't cut through the gums yet. Mine were growing at an angle too. The longer you wait the worse it will be. I would do it now.
Reply:I just had all four of mine taken out. the surgery really wasn't bad and was actually pretty quick. I was nervous about the pain and whatnot but it was actually an easy recovery.. anywho.. it is not absolutely necessary to have them taken out. however, it would be cheaper to have them taken out now rather than before they break through the gums. once it breaks through it then becomes a tooth extraction rather than surgery and your health insurance wont pay for it. thats at least how mine worked (i would reommend checking your health/dental plans).

You may want to have them taken out or at least checked out thoroughly before they do start causing problems with your other teeth and jaw.

Good luck
Reply:TRUST ME get them takin out before they start hurting, i waited til they hurted (not that i knew they were out already) and them things hurt like hell, please go get them takin out because when they hurt they HURT!!!!!!!!!! it is no joke, i was up for like 2 days in a row because at the emegency room they could not do anything and i had to wait for my dentist to open on monday, it is HORRIBLE!!! I wanted to rip them things out my mouth myself by the end of the first day and i cracked one of them and then the inner nerve was exposed and that is the WORST pain i have EVER felt! by the way im 20 as well so trust me get them takin out.
Reply:If you have crowded teeth and the wisdoms are at an angle, you should get them taken out. They will mess up what your braces have done. Personally, the worst thing i fear and hate is the actual shot in the mouth the doc. gives.
Reply:Yes I would get them out now, before they impact your other teeth %26amp; cause a bigger problem. Wisdom tooth removal is quite common %26amp; its better at your age, as the younger you are the better you heal. I would discuss with your dentist if he plans to take them 1 out at a time, take just the lower 2 out or take all 4 out. I had my very first wisdom tooth removed when I was 18. Than when I was 22 I had 2 more wisdom teeth removed out about 2 weeks apart. I'm now 23 %26amp; just had my last wisdom tooth (lower left) %26amp; the tooth right next to it removed. In my case it was not that they were angled or danger of being impacted, it was because I have no enamel on any of my teeth (gum disease inhereted from birth) %26amp; they abcessed, which do to my teeth condition the best thing to do is just remove them instead of trying root canal or anything else. Depending upon if he plans on knocking you out or just using novacaine/lidocaine would dictate alot if you should get them removed 1 or 2 at a time, or if all should be removed togather. Hope you have an easy %26amp; noncomplicated extraction %26amp; goodluck mate. Wisdom tooth removal is quite common %26amp; usually is not a bad procedure, just be sure to follow all orders from your dentist to avoid complications %26amp; hopefully your roots are not too long as if they are it can become a difficult removal like my last 2 did, which means more pain, longer healing time, more swelling %26amp; longer procedure time. A good dentist would answer any questions you have %26amp; explain in detail the procedure that will be done.
Reply:I am now 28 and should have gotten them out at 20. My bottom teeth were perfectly straight at one time, but now are crooked due to the wisdom teeth growing at an angle. The wisdom teeth didn't bother me at that time, and didn't start bothering me till a couple of years ago, and that was only sporadically a couple times a year. Get it done or your teeth will start to become crowded and because of the crowding it will cause your straight teeth to come out of line, and be crooked..
Reply:Yes if the dentist recommended them to be removed. Your teeth WILL erupt and it will be painful because the wisdom teeth will start pushing all your other teeth around (making them crooked).
