Kitten teeth?

my kittens were born at the end of dec 06 today I was brushing their teeth for the first time i noticed that two of then appear to have two canines on each side they do not look broken but rather forked somehow is this normal or only in mainecoons or are they loosing baby teeth? whats up with that?

Kitten teeth?
Keep an eye on them .my kitten had his adult teeth growing next to his baby teeth i was going to have the baby ones extracted when i went to have him desexed but they fell out on his own. if they are still there by the time you are thinking about having him desexed (if you havent already) then the vet can take them out while he is under anaesthetic.

i work in a vet hospital and its very common for animals to still have their baby teeth and adult teeth. They can usually be removed quite easily
Reply:it sounds like retained baby teeth, this is in my experience a very bad hard thing to handle without the help of a vet, what happens is the baby teeth don't fall out but the adult teeth still grow next to them making a tight space that food gets stuck in and is impossible to clean and when the food rots you get cavities, and 2 bad teeth that may need to be removed, instead of just one if you address the problem early. Ive read cat and dog breeders think its a sign of poor breeding. Good luck with kitty
