Hens and roosters have no teeth,so how do they break down food ready for digestion?
They also swallow grid and together the grit and food gets ground down in their crops.

Reply:They grind the food in their gizzard which contains grit, sandy like material (vitally important to provide for birds in cages)
Reply:Birds have a thing above the stomach called the gizzard which is a muscle like part of the throat which the birds top up with grit and the food is ground up in here before going to the stomach.
