Wisdom teeth trouble!!!!!?

Round about a month ago I remember having this awfull pain in my lower jaw line, it was a feeling of preassure that filled my head as if my teeth were grinding against each other.I didn't think much of it at the time.

Two weeks later I went to bed as usuall, even thought it was very unconfortable, got up the next morning and I looked like a tomato, my face was swollen and red on my right hand side.

I couldn't speak at all, had a look at my teeth and found the guilty party; MY WISDOM TEETH!!!, had decided to form an abcess on the tooth, I decided to go to the Drs they game me painkillers, then went to the Dentist who gave me antibiotics, I have been taking this pills for the last two weeks with no change, the pain gets worse in cold situations.

I'm due to get married soon and I would like to have the bugger out before then, but as it is growing at an angle it hasn't broken throught the gum, my dentist won't do anything about it. but the pain is driving me potty!!!! Any advice??

Wisdom teeth trouble!!!!!?
go to a good dentist
Reply:It's time to find another dentist, preferably a competent one.
Reply:You should tell the dr. that you havent noticed a change. It should have started to feel better after about 3 days. You cant extract a tooth untill the abscess is gone.
Reply:In my opinion you should seek a second opinion from another dentist. There is no reason you should need to suffer unnessasary pain.

However it is possible the pain is from the infection, hence the antibiotics. Generally however, you need to remove the cause before the cure can take effect but this may not be possible until the absess is better.
Reply:If you live in the UK ask for a referral to see an oral surgeon at your local hospital - if it needs extracting before your wedding then you may need to pay privatly as there is usually a waiting list. In the meantime use warm salty mouthwash 2 or 3 times a day to help draw any infection out. Put the mouthwash in your mouth then tilt your head to one side and keep the mouthwash over the affected area for at least one minute then spit out. Don't swallow the mouthwash as the salts not good for you. The mouthwash needs to be as warm as drinkable tea with a good table spoon full of salt in it.

Use this anytime you feel the tooth giving you trouble.
Reply:It could be the teeth coming through that's hurting more than the abcess. Antibiotics should clear up an abcess, so if it's still there, you should go back to the dentist (I know it's an added cost but seeing as your wedding is coming up, you want to get that sorted out). The doctor might give you stronger pain killers.

You problem sounds similar to my boyfriend's. His wisdom tooth is coming at an angle, he gets abcesses, it's sore in cold weather and it can't be taken out.

The good news is his pain comes in sessions. It's sore for a few weeks, then fine for months. So if your anything like him, you might find the pain will go away after another week (I know that doesn't sound like much comfort right now but unless dentists or doctors can help you there's not much else you can do)

With sympathy.
Reply:I had soreness in my gums for at least a year on and off in my early 20`s. Had an x-ray and they said that my wisdom teeth would not come through properly as they were growing at the wrong angle. So i had them taken out in hospital. Mine hadn`t broken through when they were removed. Perhaps you need to try another dentist. Toothache is horrible. Good Luck.
