I am going to have them pulled on October 1st thank goodness. I have two bottom wisdom teeth that grew in decayed and as a result they are both broken off into the gum and they both have holes in them which collect a lot of food. I try to keep them cleaned out but it doesn't always work. Right now I am having severe pain. I also have an upper tooth that is cracked and when the gum becomes inflamed it will poke through the crack of the teeth. That one often gets abscessed.
I feel that I may have some sort of blood poisoning because I always feel sick, I have a lot of stomach pain (ulcer like pain), I have headaches all the time and my body always feels tight and like it's a lot of pressure on my body.
Are there any blood tests out there that I can request to detect if there is blood poisoning in my system?
Is there a blood test that can detect blood poisoning from abscessed teeth?
I answered this question once but will answer it again. You can have a blood culture done to check for this.
Reply:Your doctor can do a blood test called a blood culture. This will detect any bacteria that may be in your bloodstream

WISDOM teeth?
i have a few questions that i need to ask but my oral surgeon is an old grump and all he can say when i ask him questions is "did you watch the video?" half of my qs arent on the video and the ones that are have like 3 different answers to them.
1. i have an infection in both sides of my lower jaw where my wisdom teeth are ( will it make me hurt more than normal when he cleans it out?) and when he cleans it out, will it feel like a broken bone?
2. when they "clean out the infection" do they drill out the infected bone?
3. will my jaw be more prone to break?
4. how do they "wire your mouth shut"? i mean what do they do?
WISDOM teeth?
Alright, they might just need to take out the teeth and clean the area around it. It might just be an absess, but if it has gone into your bone they might have to take some of the bone out. But they won't take out a lot unless you're in a hospital, and have your permission to take out part of your jaw. But if your doctor caught it early enough then it will just need a clean out. Once you do heal up the bone that does come out will be covered by calcium and will make your jaw just as strong as it was before, so no it won't break easier unless you're a boxer lol. Your jaw shouldn't have to be wired shut unless you've injured your jaw in a severe way here's a website about it, just in case they do have to do it: http://www.ahealthyme.com/topic/topic100...
Reply:First off not a doctor but I will tell you this much--maybe you should look at getting a new doc. From what you are saying you arent very comfortable and your not getting your answers from him. you should be comfortable with your doc. You don't need your wisdom teeth in the first place. Either way you will probably be in some sort of pain once you do get the procedure done but it will end. Good luck!!!
Reply:Ok, I think you need to find a different dentist for a second opinion. I've never heard of this treatment for any infected tooth, wisdom or otherwise.
Infections are treated with antibiotics. Once in awhile they will lance the area to drain some of the pus out and when they do that if feels fantastic because the pressure is released instantly and much of the pain leaves.
Once done they have to decide if the tooth is worth keeping or if you have room in your mouth for it. If they decide not to keep it, they pull it. If they decide to keep it, it may require root canal. Root canal is painless because they numb you well and I get nitrous as well. It's over in a short amount of time and the nerves are removed from the tooth. It doesn't affect your bone...and I have no clue what you refer to about wiring your mouth shut.
Find a different dentist. Get a second opinion and get your questions answered. A dentist who doesn't want to answer your questions is a dentist who wouldn't be going in my mouth.
Reply:Did he tell you what kind of infection you have? Well it's probably gingivitis (periodontal disease). The hygienist will have to clean out your infection by deep scaling. I know it sounds scary but they numb you for it and it doesnt hurt at all. I had it done trust me. And they also dont use the drills when they are cleaning out the infection. No your jaw wont break, when you have periodontal disease it makes your teeth more weak, not your jaw. That mean your teeth become mobile and if they arent taken care of my a dentist they will fall out. And as far as wiring your mouth shut, I have no ides. When I was in school for dental assisting we didnt talk about that at all.

How many wisdom teeth do you have? And has this happened to you ?
about 4 or 5 years ago my dentist pulled out my wisdome teeth and according to my x-rays I only had 2 wisdom teeth. In the last month or 2 I now have a new one that has broken the skin. Is this normal to get them pulled and then get more or what?
How many wisdom teeth do you have? And has this happened to you ?
Not sure but i think you can have as many as 4. I went from no problems to having one break the skin. My dentist pulled it and no more problems.
Reply:I had all 4 of my wisdom teeth taken at the same time. You get 2 at the bottom (one on each side) and the same at the top. I have never heard of a wisdom tooth growing back in the same place it was pulled.
My left bottom wisdom tooth was coming in wrong and was pushing my bottom teeth and causing the right one on the bottom to to hurt too. My top wisdom teeth weren't coming in. So I got the bottom 2 pulled and the top ones cut out. I'm good now... that was about 3 years ago.
GOOD LUCK.
Reply:I only had 3 and had them all out. If there was only 2 a few years ago there shouldn't be a new one now. It could be that a regular tooth was being kept in the gum by a crooked wisdom tooth and now it has come in.
I would ask the dentist to see the old x-rays to find out what it really is.
Reply:People can have 2-4 wisdom teeth. Are they growing in the same place as the ones you've had pulled?
Reply:You have four wisdom teeth altogether. A friend of mine had all of his taken out, and a couple years later more started coming up, but I think that's quite rare. And if this is happening to you, get a hold of your dentist and ask him/her about your concern, because they probably know more about the subject of teeth than I do. :)
Good luck with everything

I need some information about Wisdom Teeth.?
i regularly visit the dentist every 6 months for cleanings and i've never had any problems with my teeth. i've never had braces, and my teeth are perfectly straight. at my last cleaning 6 months back, my dentist had told me that my wisdom teeth were really starting to come in. he told me i should make a consulation with an oral surgeon because under some of them was something that looked like an abscess but they weren't sure, it could have been anything. i never did because i don't want them to touch my teeth unless i have a problem with them. my top left and bottom right have not broken through at all. my bottom left in halfway through and it looks like it's going to have room and i haven't had a problem. my top right there is a very small bit showing on the side of my gums. i have an appt on friday but i'm freaking out because i'm afraid of what they will say. does the removal hurt? is it mandatory? what the hell is an abscess? i want to be a little informed before i go in.
I need some information about Wisdom Teeth.?
I had all my wisdom teeth out by the time I was 20 because not only did each of them cause me a great deal of pain but two of them were impacted. Impacted means that they were growing in a different way than straight up which is normal. Having teeth impacted is one reason why it would be necessary to pull the teeth.
The only way they will know if it has to be pulled is by doing additional x-rays to see what kind of position they are in. The x-rays may also tell if the teeth are having problems with an abscess which is a pretty serious kind of infection.
Abscesses can get anywhere and if not treated quickly can cause serious problems which is why the dentist is concerned. They use antibiotics to try and control abscesses as well.
I had mine pulled with an anesthetic given in the office and pulled right there and went home the same day. I hurt for about 3 or 4 days afterward but had medicine to help with the pain.
Let the doctor that you see know that you are nervous about this appt and depending on what they say it may not be necessary to pull them yet. But if they are causing problems it will depend on what the x-rays show. A friend of mine's husband didn't get his pulled til last year and he's 35.
Reply:ok i had mine taken out (all 4) when i was 16. It is not mandatory, they cant force you to do it, but if you leave them and they do not have enough room they are gonna ruin your pretty smile. when mine were taken out, only the bottom 2 had erupted. When they remove them they give you 2 options, 1 is to be knocked out for the procedure, the second is to be given drugs to numb the area. I did the latter so i know how they did it, it didnt hurt during it they just pry them out, may have to do a little cutting to expose the teeth that havent come through, after its all done you may be sore for a few days but thats it. One girl i knew had her cheeks swollen for 2 days but shes the only one ive heard of that happening to. Just get it done if the doc tells you to do so. Its not a big deal.
Reply:A dental abscess is an infection of the mouth, face, jaw, or throat that begins as a tooth infection or cavity. Basically it is a pocket of pus beneath the tooth or in the gums. General the dentist will prescribe antibiotics to help the abscess drain. Sometimes it is necessary to remove the infected tooth through dental surgery to all for the abscess to drain.
Also from experience I can tell you that the removal of your wisdom teeth is really quite painless. You are put to sleep during the procedure and once you awaken your dentist prescribes a pain killer to ease any pain that you may have. The stitches are irritating as well as the gauze that you have to keep in your mouth for the first few hours. However, as long as you follow the dentist's instructions your gums will heal fine and you will be back to normal in no more then a week!
Reply:The sooner you get them out the better. I'm 23 and probably got all four of mine out when I was about your age. I had absolutely no problems, and it didn't hurt at all afterwards. I didn't have to use any of the pain pills the o/s prescribed. But, my wife on the other hand swelled up like a chipmunk and was out for a few days afterwards. I think she waited too long though, because they had to cut them out. Ewww. They knock you out for the wisdom teeth. You'll be sleeping so hard you won't feel a thing. I woke up and was a little (okay, very) loopy when I got mine removed, but you get over that pretty quick. It's kinda fun, if you ignore all the gauze in your mouth. I think if I had the option to do it again, most definitely I would. The o/s warned me of eruptions (colliding of the teeth causing breakage of one or both), and other such mallities that I just didn't want to mess with. I think an abscess is something that sticks out, right?!
In a nutshell, get the procedure done. You'll be asleep through it all and it'll be over with before you know it. The most annoying part of the thing was keeping the gauze in it for awhile and making sure to rinse the back of my mouth with a syringe, which are both only inconveniences.
Reply:Don't stress yourself out. Abscess is an infection, like a cut that pusses. It's puss under the tooth. Infection trapped inside can be very dangerous because it is closer for that infecion to 1 : get into your blood stream %26amp; 2 travel to your brain -on top of other things. However these bad things happen when left untreated. So your x-rays had a shadow or something that they could not identify and wanted to make sure you wouldn't suffer with an infection/ abcess because they can be very painful also. When the teeth not yet comming through the gums it could mean they can't or won't and can start aging and breaking down causing an infecion / abscess. So it is important to have it checked out- but don't worry. If anything is wrong have them removed it won't hurt during the precedure but will be sore afterwards and you must not eat solid foods or smoke. Great time for smoothies, ice cream, soups, cocoa, and other fun stuff. Also talk with your dentist and ask questions so you understand better.
Reply:If you had an abscess it would have probably been very painful (and maybe stinky!). If your dentist pointed out to you some dark shadows around the wisdom tooth area it could very easily be a follicular cyst. All teeth start to form (inside your jaws) as a tiny bud. The follicle is the "placenta" that the teeth form inside of, and then it helps to push the teeth to the surface. If you don't have room for wisdom teeth, that follicle doesn't know it, and will keep growing in order to push that tooth! This is when the follicle can become a cyst, and if you don't at least monitor it you can develop a very weak jawbone due to the undermining.
Reply:Had the same thing to happen to me all the wisdom teeth were iimpacted and they found something they siad it was a cyst turned out to be a small tumor had my surgery and when i woke up i wish they would have just cut my head off while i was out my teeth are straight too the only problem i have had is i grind my teeth and i broke a few in my sleep grinding them. I feel for you having to have surgery it took almost a year for my pain to really go away no joke! they did it all at one time put me to sleep when i woke up my eyes were black and stayed that way for 2 weeks the good thing was i lost 39 pounds LOL what ever you have going on it really needs to be treated so keep the app. and see what the doc says if mine was lefted untreated i could have had cancer! Best of luck oh ya get a price also about your insurance mine suxs i had to pay 1300.00 dollars out of my pocket. if you go untreated the least little thing can break your jaw bone so you need to have the wisdom teeth removed it is very important. The longer you wait the worse the pain i was 38 when i had mine done so do not delay remind you the pain will only get worse

Question about teeth?
I'm just 16... and i've never expierenced this before, so i really need help right now. my teeth have always been great...but i was in a collision a few days ago during sports, and one of my teeth hurt a little bit and is shaking a bit... after i went to the dentist, and she took pictures. she said its shaking, but no bleeding or hurt a lot, and from the pictures, its hard to determine if its broken... so she stablized it for me. so now, i'll have the steel thing for 3 months +. anybody has any other suggestions for protecting this injured tooth?
Question about teeth?
Your dentist did the right thing to stabilize the tooth and allow it to try to heal itself. If I was you I would see about getting a sports mouth-guard made to wear when you are playing sports. It's the smart thing to do and would have prevented your having this problem in the first place. Good luck!
Reply:Don't eat anything hard or crunchy foods. Avoid chewing with the affected tooth.
You should be ok tho. Don't worry your mouth will heal itself.
Reply:i'm in the dental field. an injured tooth like urs may end up with dead root or root fracture (also known as root canal). it may not happen now, but in due time it will. i've seen patients that's been in accidents thats tooth goes dead immediately and some may take years,
if your tooth is mobile now, chances are, it will heal a bit, but it'll nvr be the same.
just make sure you follow up with your dentist in a few months and have her take your xray to make sure the nerve havent died.
hope this helps

Kitten teeth?
my kittens were born at the end of dec 06 today I was brushing their teeth for the first time i noticed that two of then appear to have two canines on each side they do not look broken but rather forked somehow is this normal or only in mainecoons or are they loosing baby teeth? whats up with that?
Kitten teeth?
Keep an eye on them .my kitten had his adult teeth growing next to his baby teeth i was going to have the baby ones extracted when i went to have him desexed but they fell out on his own. if they are still there by the time you are thinking about having him desexed (if you havent already) then the vet can take them out while he is under anaesthetic.
i work in a vet hospital and its very common for animals to still have their baby teeth and adult teeth. They can usually be removed quite easily
Reply:it sounds like retained baby teeth, this is in my experience a very bad hard thing to handle without the help of a vet, what happens is the baby teeth don't fall out but the adult teeth still grow next to them making a tight space that food gets stuck in and is impossible to clean and when the food rots you get cavities, and 2 bad teeth that may need to be removed, instead of just one if you address the problem early. Ive read cat and dog breeders think its a sign of poor breeding. Good luck with kitty

Can your wisdom teeth be removed even if they haven't grown in all the way??
All of my wisdom teeth are growing in as we speak, my top ones haven't cut through the gums yet ( I can feel my teeth trying to poke out), but they hurt like hell and I can tell they are growing in sideways (towards the cheek) .And my bottoms are 'crowning'. What I want to know is, is it possible to take out my top set even though they haven't broken through yet? They give me a lot of pain and are making both top and bottom teeth really crowded. I know I need to see a dentist and I plan on it, I just want to know if its possible to have them removed.
Can your wisdom teeth be removed even if they haven't grown in all the way??
Yes, it's better to have them removed early if they're growing in incorrectly. If you let them go too long, they can crowd or damage your other teeth. It doesn't hurt any more or less to have them cut out rather than pulled out, so no worries.
Reply:Yes they can be cut out, but the person will have to go through surgery to get them removed if they have not come in yet. I plan on getting mine cut out.
Reply:yes, two years ago mine were coming in, but really crooked, so i had them cut out.
Reply:Definately. I had all 4 of mine removed before they were visible. Hurts like hell though. They knocked me out, but I think they just cut through your gums, extract the teeth, then sew your gums closed.
Reply:Yes, they can be removed. I had all four of my wisdom teeth removed in July, and only one tooth was partially up. There's a specific name(compacted?) for this, but the surgeon just needs to extract them by cutting through the gums.
Reply:Yes they can be removed. Mine wouldn't come through because they had become fused with my jaw bone. You will have to have a more extensive procedure than just having them pulled but it will be fine. The sooner you get them out the sooner you will feel better.
Reply:Absolutely! Some of my wisdom teeth never came through, and never would have if I hadn't had them removed. Some are impacted in bone, and cause swelling, pain, bone degeneration, tooth crowding, etc. Go ahead and get them removed. I'm glad mine are gone.
Reply:Yes. That is generally why they take them out in the first place, because they are not growing in completely, or growing in incorrectly. You should see an oral surgeon to discuss this. It is generally covered by insurance. I had it done years ago myself .. it's no big deal, .. but get it done. Good Luck ! :)
Reply:Yes. Most third molars are removed before fully erupted for multiple reasons. Check your insurance, it may partially cover if removed by an Oral Surgeon.
Reply:yes, but you will need surgery to have your gums cut open
