I also had to take out 4 teeth for braces. They might take it out all at once, depending where it's located. It's not that painful since they will numb your mouth first. You'll just feel a little discomfort afterwards and you might drool since your mouth may still be numb.

When they put on braces, its not that painful, just really uncomfortable because you mouth will be stretch open for like 2 hours. But afterwards, it will hurt. It'll feel like someone has punched your face 100 times.
Reply:MAKE SURE THEY NUMB YOU UP GOOD OK but make sure your numbed up also use salt water to watch it out.

it hurts like hell but get some vicodine but you probably won't be able to drive if you do thanks
Reply:i had two teeth taken out at the same time and it didnt hurt. You can only feel the pressure of the tooth being taken out but no pain. As for the braces, it doesnt hurt getting them put on but it sucks trying to eat for a couple of days. You get used to them though and its easy enough to talk. The bit i didnt like was getting them tightened. i dont know if that was just coz my orthodontist was an *** but it hurt for me. Also getting them off isnt that great a feeling either. Nor is getting a mould of your teeth for a plate. Dont worry though you'll be fine
Reply:i had braces a few years ago and i had to take out 2 teeth which isnt nearly as bad as 4 but its about the same experience. the dentist didnt pull out both of my teeth at the same time. i think it was a tooth one week and another a week after. but other cases it could be two at a time but not all at once. for me it didnt hurt to put on braces. braces only hurt for a few days after each time theyre tightened. when you have braces on, you talk basically the same way you talk without it. you'll eventually get used to having braces on youre teeth and it'll feel like normal. it may be painful at times but its worth it to have straight teeth after having it.
Reply:i m a dental student myself %26amp; i have underwent extraction of teeth a few years ago for orthodontic treatment.i had an experience lik urs.. wil tel u wat to do..

(1) if u feel u don't want all 4 taken out at once.. u can take one teeth each week.. thats wat i did! d dentist wil take out ur pre molar teeth out!

(2)it won't pain too much!go to a good dentist.. make sure ur teeth is anesthetised well..then jus follow d instuctions wat d dentist gives u.. u won't suffer at all!!

(3)usually after a month or so,u'll wear d braces after d extracted area is completely healed

(4)in d hands of a good dentist,u'll never ever feel pain for braces; instead u'll feel pressure, thats al! That is d sign your teeth is moving to d place where it has to be!

%26gt;%26gt; so ur treatment is worth it.. u r gonna get a beautiful smile after this treatment period... so ALL THE BEST!!
Reply:I had four teeth removed when I got braces. It was one of my better dental experiences. The doctor gave me a small dose of Valium to take the morning of the procedure since I was so terrified, then they gave me laughing gas during the procedure. My mom, who was in the room, said I was grinning from ear to ear while they were pulling them out. I only felt a small amount of pressure, and they healed rather quick. However when I went to get my braces tightened they did something called the claw. Which is when they bend the wire a certain way to pull the gap closed. That was uncomfortable for the next few months. But I'm very happy with the final result. Just remind yourself - its all worth it in the end.
Reply:Do not do it!!! I had perfectly straight teeth, but a "cross bite" and had my teeth pulled for the braces. Once my wisdom teeth grew in (which weren't supposed to form and Oh, guess what? At age 39 they discovered I actually have "extra" teeth.." Anyway, once the wisdom teeth were pulled, I was left with a 1/4" gap between my front teeth that has to be "filled in" with bonding. My "bite" on my molars never changed EVER and to this day, I have a "crossbite".
Reply:Not at all. It's usually up to you; if you feel right you can get all 4 taken out at once, or do one side at a time. The admission of local anesthesia means that you won't feel any pain. However, you will be able to feel the pressure of the extraction and when the tooth comes away from the jawbone. I had the two sides done one week apart from each other only because that way at least I could still eat normal food one one side for a week. The extraction site will need extra care (rinsing with salt water after day 1 etc) for about a week. After I got home I took some painkiller just in case but never felt any pain.

Just got my braces on yesterday. What I can tell you is that the bonding up of braces does not hurt one bit. As pressure builds up after 4-5 hours they will start to feel a bit tender. Today they are pretty sore. But they are not sore 24/7, pain is only experienced when pressure is applied on the teeth, eg. chewing, bumping etc. So no it will not hurt to talk. One thing that's stopping me from talking completely normally now is the tender spots in my mouth from rubbing against the braces of which they will get better with time. I've heard that Bonjela's especially good for treating this.

I know extracting 4 teeth seems pretty scary at first, but you're going to be fine. Your body has this amazing ability to heal and adapt, provided you follow exactly the instructions given by your dentist and orthodontist. It's all worth it, you're going to sport a beautiful set of smile which is going to last you a life time. All the best!
