My Dog has broken off part of his tooth, do I need to be concerned?

There is/was no bleeding, swelling or infection. He allows me to examine it, and after he licked his chops for about 20 minutes he seems fine. He's three years old, so I can't imagine that the tooth would fall out and grow a new one. Any help or insight would be appreciated.

Nothin to worry about. It's normal!
Reply:Broken teeth ARE something to worry about. It is VERY likely to get an infection. I've seen what happens when even the smallest crack or broken off piece is ignored. If you don't get your dog to the vet soon to have that looked at it could cost you a small fortune down the road. Report It

Reply:My old girl is missing the tops of her canines too. Its a sign of age. It happens.
Reply:call a local vet . and no you shouldnt be that concernd
Reply:Take your pup to the vet. They can put a crown on the tooth to help prevent any further damage.
Reply:I would call your vet...it might lead to him not eating correctly or cause pain
Reply:i still think you should bring him to the vet he maybe in pain but just to be on the safe side!!!
Reply:If the tooth is hurting the dog take him to a vet. Watch carefully how he eats, does he favor that side? Is it business as usual?
Reply:no need 4 concern unless the tooth is puncturing part of his tongue or gums
Reply:My boyfriends parents have a german shepard and all of her canine teeth are broken off. They used to throw hard balls to her and that is how the teeth got broken off. So all the the canine teeth are not pointy like they should be, they are broke off and straight across. So if it is not bothering your dog, then he will be fine.
Reply:not very concern but you must take him to a doctor
Reply:better to call a local vet.
Reply:If left alone, the tooth will start to decay causing you more problems in the future. They can put a crown on the tooth or you could have it pulled.
Reply:call the vet if it hurts she carnt say
