Cutting teeth?

My son Daniel is 6.5 months old, and I'm 99.99% sure his first tooth is starting to come through. (I say 99.99% because I don't think I'll ever be 100% about anything again, now that I have a baby!)

My question isn't about signs and symptoms, I know all that stuff, but what I can't seem to figure out, is how long from the day you first spot the swelling and feel the hardness in the gums that says "a tooth is coming" will that little thing actually pop through the gums?

I guess it probably varies from child to child, but anyone who can give me a range (i.e 1-2 days, 1-2 weeks, etc) or say how long it was before their little one's first tooth finally broke through, it would be very appreciated!

Thank you!

Cutting teeth?
For my daughter it took 3 days......she started with swollen/hard gums on a Friday, ran a fever on Fri and Sat, then Sunday two little 'pearls' broke through the skin. But it took about 2 weeks for them to be come out all the way. Praise the Lord for Nuby teething keys, she didn't go anywhere w/o them. Hope this helps!
Reply:Oh 'twisted' I should have mentioned that Jenna wasn't fussy the entire two weeks it took for them to come out, just those few days BEFORE they broke the skin. Report It

Reply:The baby oragel/or teething tablets didn't work. It's so weird b/c my friends swear by those two products :(. Well I hope your little man is doing better! Report It

Reply:Usually when you first see the hard little white spot beneath the gum, I'd say it takes a couple weeks. Be sure to keep some Oragel on hand to help the baby with the pain.
Reply:It usually took my children about two weeks until the tooth came through. After the first tooth the other one followed right after.
Reply:Sorry, I can't lie to you. It does take some time and two weeks is about right. My son's (11 months and only 2 teeth) would even bubble up and tease us with breaking through and then go back down, like it never happened. Our doctor said that it was completely normal and that every child is different. My now three year old daughter had no problem with her teeth, didn't seem to bother her much, her little brother on the other hand is having an awful time with them. Oragel helps, but I find that Tylenol works the best at helping to manage their discomfort. Good luck to you and to little Daniel. I hope that bitty thing is through soon!!!
Reply:you think the first one coming in is bad......wait until it's time for the first one to come out. You would think someone was cutting off thier leg lol
Reply:When my son was 5 months (he had started teething at 3mo.) he had the swelling and pain for about a month or so. Then he started getting loose stools for a couple days, then he vomited for the first time-twice! It was so scary, I nearly froze! Anyway, the very next day his two bottom teeth finally cut through!

I know that every baby is different, but his little body definitely told me when they were coming! I hope this helps!
