Help!! My rabbit's teeth are all broke and she can't eat!!!?

My little sister was walking around with my bunny and dropped her down the stairs [while I was at school]. Thankfully my rabbit isn't dead yet, is there anything I can do to fix her teeth? Will they ever grow back? Is there a way she can eat? PLEASE tell me something that would ease her pain!!

Help!! My rabbit's teeth are all broke and she can't eat!!!?
Your rabbit will be okay.

Contrary to popular belief, a rabbit has 28 .... yes twenty-eight ... teeth in it's mouth. The 4 visible ones, a set of tiny peg teeth directly behind the upper incisors, and then a mouth full of them way in the back.

Your rabbit uses the front ones to "cut" longer items such as grass, veggies and hay. Keep your rabbit on a diet of pellets and water for the next few weeks. The teeth will grow back in VERY QUICKLY and it will be as good as new.

Now, there is one thing to watch for. You want to make sure the upper incsors grow infront of the lower incisors. If they come in the other way around, and the rabbit has an underbite, you'll need to get the teeth trimmed or filed on a regular basis. Rabbits with an underbite, or buck teeth, cannot naturally wear their teeth down. With a correct bite, an overbite, the teeth rub each other and wear down.

If buck teeth is left untreated, the teeth will continue to grow and curl. This condition can lead to the death of the animal in many cases.

Best of luck with your rabbit! He/she will be better in no time!
Reply:They should grow back. Not sure about food at this point. Maybe some pureed veggies.
Reply:TAKE HER TO A VET RIGHT NOW!

That poor animal is probably in such HORRIBLE pain right now.

You should've immediately taken her teeth and put them into a glass of milk and rushed straight to the vet to see if they could put her teeth back in like on humans.

Either way the bunny should be at the vet asap. Animals need medical care in situations like this just as much as humans do.

It is cruel to not take her and get her the help she needs.

Even if you dont have the money, go anyways and tell them you cant afford to help her. I am sure they will try something.
Reply:rabbits have only one set of teeth...but what you can do to make sure that she doesn't die of starvatation is

1) you can chew the grass for the rabbit and then drop it in its mouths. Thats what mommy birds do for baby birds and thats what you can do for your rabbit.

2) You can also take the rabbit to your back yard get a gun and shoot it in the head. This prevents the rabbit the misery of dying from starvation since you wont chew the grass for the rabbit. good luck.
Reply:They should grow back, u might want to see a vet though. For the meantime, just put the veggies through a blender or something.
Reply:oh dear ................... this is too bad .......... well what I think that you can use juice and milk any kind of liquid to feed him while it grow back ...............
Reply:See the dentist, they might fit a set of false nashers
Reply:Please take the rabbit to a vet. Rabbits in pain won't eat and if a rabbit goes without food for more than 24 hours it can die.

The vet can give you something called Metacam, which is often used for pain in rabbits and can check the teeth. A rabbit's teeth are always growing, btw.
Reply:Plz take that poor bunny to the vet right now!!! Gee she must be famished now that she cant eat! The teeth should grow back because they always need filing anyway so i'd assume that they would grow back. About the food, make a puree out of steamed vegtables and and cooked oatmeal and put that in the blender then let it cool for a while before giving it to the rabbit use a syringe to put the food in then insert it in the corner of the mouth and she should swallow it. But get the vets opinion first about what to do. Good Luck!
Reply:You should bring her to a vet and get some pain meds. In the meantime take a small amount of the pellets you feed her and add hot water. Wait for it to cool and then syring feed it to her (the syringe shouldn't have the needle on it). Also try giving her baby food, veggies of course. http://www.rabbit.org
Reply:Don't worry. Her teeth will grow back in good time. Feed her oatmeal with crushed vitamins in it. Give her extra vitiman C and check her teeth daily.
