Help please. My tooth broke.?

One of my teeth in the back on the upper right side of my mouth (the very last tooth to be exact...no it's not wisdom) broke ALMOST completely weeks ago....yeah I know I'm late. It had broken before but only in very little pieces and it just so happened that one day I was eating something and most of it broke. Now here's where I got scared. When it broke, part of the gum surrounding it was like hanging....not like THAT much, just a little part. I'm stupid so I didn't tell anyone and here I am weeks later getting more worried because when I feel it with my tongue now, the gum feels so weird. It's not hanging anymore, it just feels like it sticked back and formed a lump in the middle of the broken tooth (hard to explain). I'm scared to look at it in the mirror (because I might find something horrifying) and I have a dentist appointment on Friday but I'm scared she'll be like "I'm sorry, you'll need surgery" or "I'm sorry, you have mouth cancer". What do you think it could be?

You broke a tooth and you'll probably be sent for a root canal to keep it from getting infected. The tooth being broken off really isn't that critical since it's a back tooth. The dentist may want to make more money and tell you that you need surgery, but with a root canal, you really don't need to do anything else.
Reply:you might need your nerves drilled out. It's very painful and traumatic. The memory will haunt you for the rest of your life.
Reply:Don't worry about it... mouth cancer is quite rare... but definitely keep the dentist appointment, you need to get that thing fixed.
