I have been taking methadone for pain for a few years and my teeth are brittle, breaking and the enamel is coming off.
Has anyone heard of Methadone messing up your teeth?
I read it happens with medications that cause dry mouth or changes in saliva. Methadone and other opiates decrease your muscle mass so maybe it takes from your calcium too. Opiates do obsurb in the bone that is why body pain is so bad during with drawl

Reply:Yes, most pain killers are capable of that and chemo and bulimia. I think it changes the composition of your saliva. Try to ease off of that drug- get some counseling and exercise and a mild pain reliever for your problem. You are probably addicted to it anyhow so...
