How do dentist extract a tooth that is broken down to the gum line it's a wisdom tooth?

With a sort of "hook" tool. Not pleasant, but a necessity.

Usually with surgery. :( Minor of course though! :)
Reply:theres a tooth paste out there called ethedent it's 5.8% floride it'll help you save your teeth for real i went from 14 cavities to 1 a yr, now cuz of this stuff only from your dentis you get this perscription from ok... reguler tooth paste has 2.4-3.0 %% but this works trust me ok choose my answer please i need to past 2nd level so i can help more ppl thank's wall l.
Reply:They have special instruments called "Elevators" that can help loosen the tooth and push it up a bit and then they grab it with forceps. If that doesn't work surgery may be necessary they usually cut the gums and then cut into the bone holding the tooth in to get it out. Don't let any of this scare you you'll be numb the whole time. You can go to a specialist that can knock you out if you need it. It can be a difficult procedure depending on how stubborn the tooth is and the dentist's experience.
Reply:They will numb the area,and drill it some to get an opening going,then they take dental pliers and removed the entire piece or pieces.It's not all that bad,just ask for Motrin 800mg. and take with food after the numbness wheres off. =)
