Can someone help my teeth? (serious plea)?

Bottom line, I have horrible teeth. I have numerous problems and hate to smile because of discoloration, periodontal disease problems, and I have no money due to a job layoff with no pay.

I am a single mom with two small kids and I want to be a better example for them but all the brushing and flossing I'm doing isn't cutting it. Does anyone out there in cyberland have any helpful advice for a woman going through a rough patch? I would be willing to email with a serious person about steps to take with this problem.

On a personal note, I am afraid that no one is hiring me because of my smile. I have all my own discolored teeth and a broken one and some old fillings as well as my wisdom teeth.I need a break. I can't go to my local dental school either because they charge fees that I cannot afford.

All I want is a nicer smile and healthier teeth so I can move on with my life and get a better job. Am I wasting my time? I don't want a free ride, just a boost to get me going.

Thank you.

If you believe your teeth are keeping you from getting a job, get in touch with your states employment /unemployment commission and ask them for the name of an agency that can help you. i know others who had gotten help.
Reply:The only thing that I can think of is to research to see if there is a free dental clinic in your area. I know in my city there is but those kinds of programs are usually only available to residents of that county and it's usually only in the bigger cities.

You could try just cold calling dental offices to see if someone is willing to do your work for free or for very low low payments.

If you have medicaid, you might be eligible for dental work as a medical necessity (due to gingivitis, abscess, etc.)

Until then, you could try the over-the-counter whitening strips or gels (they are expensive though) and strong mouthwashes that improve the health of your gums.

I don't know if this is supposed to be done or not, but in college when my roommate and I would see that our teeth needed some attention, we would swab them with a Qtip soaked with hydrogen peroxide, leave it on for about two minutes, then rinse. It whitened our teeth and cleaned up our gums a bit.

Good luck to you and your teeth. :)
Reply:I would write a letter to every dentist and see if they could do it for free. You never know...
