I have bad jaw pain. I'm a clencher, but my teeth don't meet up properly so...?

I have to slide my lower jaw back into an uncomfortable position if I clench (which I do involuntarily.) When in a "relaxed" position and I close my mouth, the front teeth touch, but the bottom teeth are clashing against the back of my top teeth. My bottom teeth are also crowded, and my lower jaw seems to be too small. My last dentist said if I do braces more than likely they'd have to break my jaw to fix it in addition to remove 2 teeth on top and 2 teeth on bottom. YIIIKES!!! I don't mind having the teeth removed, but breaking the jaw worries me. Do you think just braces and tooth removal would help this, or am I going to have to get my jaw broken?

YOU MOST LIKELY NEED SOME EXTRACTIONS AND BRACES TO FIX THIS PROBLEM. PLEASE SEE AN ORTHODONTIST. BRACES CAN WORK WONDERS.
Reply:Ask about a splint for your teeth so that you won't grind them at night or in the daytime. It's called bruxisum (spelling?) Maybe you should get another opinion from another dentist.
